« on: November 19, 2013, 08:34:16 PM »
Picked up this truck November 1st.  Another Arizona garage find. Best part about it is the originality including the paint etc

Crappy cell pics do not show how nice it is.

Factory 390 Truck too!

NP 435 4spd

Ranger Package

Deluxe Tutone Paint

Spare Tire

Factory Disc Brakes 12.6" Rotors

Dana 60 With a 3.54 Gear

Factory A/C

Tinted Glass

25 Gallon Fuel Tank w Standard Fuel Tank

Heavy Duty Front & Rear Springs

Camper Package

It would make a nice Shop truck or Tow Vehicle

Inside of box has only a few scratches . . .

Truck sat for years so fuel system had to be gone thru

After taking it partially apart to go thru the mechanicals its no doubt orig miles. I have never seen a 44yr Old Arizona Truck with this nice of original paint. Pretty much any AZ veh for that matter.

The old tires literally fell apart once it was moved.

Looking for nice ready to drop in 428 Crank for engine project. No welded on re-done junk. May consider one of the new ones like Barry sells.

Picked up a 390 that had just been rebuilt, a valve was sticking and it was a total dog. Turns out pistons are .125 in hole. Either 410 or 360 Pistons with a 390 Crank.

FE Technical Forum / "Rebuilt" 390 1966 F100
« on: February 27, 2013, 11:49:53 PM »
I recently picked up a "rebuilt" 390 engine that was in a truck for a very short time. I was told it just never ran right. It has been sitting under cover for many years but I like the price. Haul it away for FREE!

After a partial teardown just to verify if it really was a 390 vs a 352 or 360 I found it indeed had few miles on a rebuild but one of the first
things I did notice was the pistons are .121 in the hole! And yes it is a 390 block with a 3.78 stroke.

Only thing I can figure out is someone added 410 vs 390 pistons?

So what it appears I would need would be either a 390 piston that would bring me closer to zero deck height or maybe adding a 428 crank.

I did find a 428 crank (1U) for 150 but it needs to be turned and of course that would me I most likely would have to add a different intake, cam, balance job etc.

It will be going into my '66 F100 as a daily driver so not so concerned of it being a hot rod but just reliable and to run great.

Has anyone seen a 390 with pistons that far down in hole?

Engine did come with a new edelbrock performer 390 intake with edel carb.  The performer worked great on my total stock 352 but I may have to step up to a RPM intake?

Truck has a column shift 3spd, will very seldom if ever see 5000 rpm, 3.50 gears and a 28.3" tall tire.
2 1/2" single exhaust.

Total budget build here as have too many other projects in the works.

What kind of deck height will a KB150 piston give me?

Sad to say must sell another of my trucks so I can get going on my 66 427 Project truck.

A very nice 1966 F100 LB Regular Cab.

Original 352 2v in it now with a 3 spd on column.  Engine runs great, over next few days am dropping in a new clutch along with a rebuilt 390 4v.
Complete rebuild incl of course pistons, rings, brgs, valve work etc.  Has a Edelbrock Alum intake and Edel Carb. I may swap the carb for a Holley from a 390 GT.

Body is very straight and 100% Rust free.  It has had one cheap paint job in its time but looks pretty good.

Undercarriage is nothing short of incredible with no surface rust on frame, ink stamping's still visible on driveshaft etc. Rear axle, backing plates are pretty much surface rust free. Absolutely no rust anywhere.

5800.00 Includes the 390 and of course we can put the original good running 352 on pallet in box of truck.

Also sad to say the other two trucks in last pic have been sold.

Private Classifieds / Original Paint 1965 F250 Deluxe Camper Special

Really hate to have to put this truck up for sale as thought it was a lifetime keeper. Been ill for too long so its gotta go so I can get some other projects done.

This truck was bought new in Seattle, WA and used only for camping in summer time, always garaged. Owner died and willed it to his nephew whom I bought it from nearly 5yrs ago.

After 40+ yrs it had a couple small oil leaks but still ran great. The battery had splattered acid over the fenderwell do I decided to pull the engine and seal it up along with take car of the battery acid splatter.  Lets just say after 400 hrs time under the hood along with the engine being freshened up, I got a bit carried away like I usually do.

Only things that I really changed was the intake manifold as it was cracked. I installed a Brand new Edelbrock Performer with the name etc ground off along with a NOS 1849 Holley (550CFM)  Everything else is stock. Still has the original positive battery cable. I did use aftermarket belts & hoses but all the rest is stock Ford.

Today I added new tires in a radial for the tune of over 650.00 along with a fresh sandblast and re-paint of the wheels.  (non split rim style) The truck originally had spit rims which was factory with the camper special's.

The paint except for tailgate is still original and looks great!  OVerall a wonderful truck one could drive anywhere.  Call or email for more details.

And yes the paint is nearly 50 yrs old. Its got to be one of the few nice original paint trucks of this vintage in the country.  Inside the box is also cherry shape with no dents etc but there are wear marks from the slide in camper.

Member Projects / My FE Powered 1966 F100 "Project"
« on: January 09, 2012, 12:43:23 PM »
Signed up here nearly a year ago. (last April) Moved 3 times since and all projects came to a standstill.
Moved into a new workshop (my smallest shop ever) A day before the new year. My FE F100 Project has gotten put on back burner long enough now.  Currently have 4 different Project FE 65-66 Trucks.

October 10th 1965 Dad pulled into the driveway with a brand new 1966 F100 Red with Red interior and a 352 w/3spd column shift and a 4:11 posi. Loved that truck, fast forward to October 1978 when I purchased a 11k mile original 427 R Comet.
Some day vowed to have a dual quad 427 S.O. in a Ultra Nice 1966 F100. Little did I know it would take over 30yrs for a 427 Powered one and 46yrs from first time I laid eyes on the gorgeous 66 F100. I learned how to drive in dads F100 the fall he took it home @ 8yrs old. My 3 daughters learned how to drive in my 1965 FE powered truck 3yrs ago. They are now 16, 14 & 11. My eldest daughter helped me get the 1966 FE Ranger on the road and loves driving it.

1966 427 Powered project is the main topic here. Need to dust it off and finish moving into shop but it should be back on track hoping by this coming weekend.

Here is eldest daughter helping me get the truck in shop for teardown.
