FE Technical Forum / Header I.D. - 66-67 Fairlane 390
« on: December 26, 2023, 04:50:29 PM »
I picked these headers up for what reason? I have no clue ;D

Can anyone identify the fabricator? There is a "11" on one header flange from each side but that is all I can find. As I recall, Crites flanges start out as individual for each cylinder so I do think they are Crites'? They appear to have possibly been assembled and then the flanges cut? The tubes are 2" O.D. Also looking for instructions or pictures of them assembled for each side? I may resell them down the road, too early to tell.

Thank you all for your responses.

Same - use the Tractor Supply  PSC 1000 in a large HF tank, no issues in many years.  With any tank, make sure you set up some easy way to drain the tank.  I converted to a larger gate valve vs just a plug in the bottom.  Lazy like that.

But is it safe for a pump that calls for water base solvent? This is Petroleum Distillate. Not sure if it is compatible with my pump?

Thanks,

I recently bought a Homak parts washer with pump. Now I need solvent that is water based (pump required). What have you had luck with? Just trying to clean any or most car parts during my projects. I don't have a heater on the washer so a non-heated water base solvent is what I plan to start with.

Thanks,

Jim,
I was there. What is MY Special?

There were various Fords & Merc sprinkled throughout the event. However, our own FCA head judge, Marty Burke hosted a Ford/Merc Big Block Display from 1968-1971 as the focus but we had a '66 R Code Fairlane and a '66 Cyclone at the end of the display. Here are some pictures I took. I'm not a big picture taker so I'm lucky I took time to get these  ;D

I heard $100k second hand. At the show asking the price wasn’t on my mind. So it could be different?

Don’t shoot the messenger. $100,000. It may have been negotiable?

This was at the MCACN (Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals) in Chicago (Rosemont) this past weekend. FE buddy Andy Snetselaar had it there and for sale. Even fired it up on occasion throughout the weekend.

A friend of mine was at Desert Valley Auto Parts on Tuesday and there is a 1964 Comet hardtop with excellent quarters. He said they were asking $450 each removed from the car. I think he was at the south yard north of Phoenix, AZ. https://www.dvap.com/

« on: November 15, 2023, 12:13:29 PM »
The rear glass is only held in by the window rubber and then the out side chrome trim is pushed into a clip
There should not be any glue used to hold the rear glass in

I am not sure if you mean that your interior roof lining has come out around or near the rear glass? The roof lining is glued with contact glue before you fit the rear glass and it is wrapped around the lip that your rear glass rubber locates too and the rubber helps hold it in.

if you wanted to fix that the rear glass should be removed then you glue the vinyl carefully " if the roof lining is old it can very easily be ripped take extra care"

The outside trim will get is very delicate DO NOT try and remove it with out knowing how they work as far as i know they are not reproduced and would cost lots of time and money to find a new second hand set. A good car glass fitter should be able to remove the rear trim and glass with out any damage and refit the glass after the repair I would replace the rubber at the same time.
He has a convertible. Your solution is good for a metal window opening.

Aluminum Hub damper - $175
This damper was purchased from Jay Cushman last year. He told me it was an older ATI damper, probably special order and that was all he could tell me. I'll take what I have into it. If you purchase the damper. I'll throw in a free timing pointer of Lykins Motorsport design. I forget? It may be a $25 value.

Stock head bolts used - $20

Dipsticks - $15 for mid 60's pickup (long bracket)
$10 for other dipstick. I forget the car it was removed from?

All to have shipping paid by buyer from Denver, PA 17517

FE Technical Forum / Re: 67 390 w/toploader min Flywheel spec

Interesting. I have a couple also. Sorting also.
The blue one is 1.002" at the thickest spot.
The black one is 0.869" at the thickest spot.
I still think a steel wheel is safer. :D

And I use steel flywheels my self but someone running a 4800 rpm 352 truck and on a budget may find use? I still cannot find a minimum thickness anywhere and I'll assume by the total internet's lack of info on this, the number doesn't exist?

I realize this is rather old but the question still remains. What is the minimum thickness for a cast FE flywheel? I'm sorting through parts and have a couple.

Thanks!
