Have a pair of 66/67 427 Fairlane 31-spline axles that I just swapped out of my street car for some aftermarket axles.  I've searched all the usual areas on-line and haven't found a recent benchmark for any FoMoCo factory HP axles.  Would seem to be in a similar range to Mustang/Torino CJ axles.

What have y'all been seeing out there recently for axle prices?

Thanks in advance

If you are not using 1/2" U-bolts, now would be a good time to replace them.  7/16" U-bolts are not a drag racer's friend.

I have an Addco 715 bar on two of my 66 Fairlanes with FEs

I'm running a Sniper with spark control on my 445, runs great, easy to tune.  Triggering through a locked-out duraspark and analog 6A box.  Set up on the handheld alone.  15-20 degrees idle timing, 38 WOT, 44 cruise.  Newer designed heads would work with less timing at WOT.  12.5-12.8 AFR at WOT, around 14.0 at cruise, higher if your engine likes it, 13.7 idle.  TPS should re-zero every time you switch power.  No EFI issues seen, but I did add an "EFI shield" in front of the ECU just in case.

Would second that on the 3" main with 2-1/2" tailpipes.  I have 3-1/2" pipes from my headers to the Dr. Gas X, then 3" to a Spintech resonator (added later), to 3" Dynomax Ultraflows, then 2-1/2" over the axle and out the back.  Sounds wicked when thrashing it, very tolerable at idle and cruise.

Car has run low 11's with that setup on drag radials.

I've installed this kit in my 66 Fairlane and my 65 Falcon.

Well made, easy to install.

The engine should make a good seat-of-the-pants impression from 3,000-5,200 or so revs.  You may notice a loss of torque off idle and when lugging the engine at low revs.  If it were my car, it would have already been swapped.

Wow, great progress!

Curious if the porosity in the manifold would be an issue on a dry manifold fitted with injector bungs?  What do you imagine a SEFI intake would look like for these heads?

A short input shaft kit, new clutch disc, new slip yoke.

Brent - are you offering short input shaft kits?  Might be interested in swapping out the TKO600 for one if I could use my current clutch/bell/driveshaft setup.

Hi Ross....Long term update/review on your experience with the Edelbrock Pro Flo 4?

What a great installation!  Does the ECU control the transmission as well as the engine?

I was able to get a standard toploader-length input shaft for the TKO in my street car.  I imagine one will be coming out for the TKX fairly soon.  The input is 26-spline as you noted, which was okay since I needed to be a new disc anyway.

Stories, eh?

So, many years ago, I was out late at night wiith a group of other car guys match racing at Martin Tractor in Topeka KS.  I had my 66 Fairlane GT, 12:1 390 solid lifters, toploader, 4.57 gears, G60-14 tires.

I'm getting ready to make run against a guy I should easily beat and make $50, when I whack the throttle hard in first gear to clean the tires, stab the clutch to grab second gear, when the clutch rod drops out of the clutch fork and the engine dies.  Mere seconds later, we hear the sirens of the incoming fuzz.

Everyone else tears out of there, except me, with an inoperable clutch.  I think quick, jam it into second, crank the starter, and head off down the access road at 6000rpm, knowing that, if I stop, the car will die again.  Car wouldn't shift into third, so I somehow managed to make it all the way back home (ten miles) turning 6,000rpm and going about 35mph (or so it seemed).

No damage, no ticket, but a distinct memory ;D

Had fabricated a 3-1/2" to X to 3" to Dynomax Ultraflows to 2-1/2" tailpipes on my street Fairlane.  Terrible drone at 2k.  Cut in a pair of 3" small Spintech mufflers ahead of the Dynomax mufflers and the drone was gone, sound level was perfect, tone was great.  Worked for me in that application.

A 15x8 wheel on a 66 Fairlane needs 4-3/4" backspacing with drum brakes.  Disc brakes are a bit thicker on the hat and will be a 5" backspacing to center between the spring and the wheel lip.
