Been working out all the figures for this build and now moving toward getting parts. Final compression should be 9.9 to 1. with the C7AE-A heads. I had a buddy that builds engines and he helped with the math. He has his own shop and does a lot of Fords and diesel build for customers. Camshaft was a challenge but got the Howards 250031-12 in a kit form with the lifters, springs' keepers and locks. Gotta get rings and gaskets when I get more bread next week.

I saw those when browsing the web awhile back. I looked at them a couple of times and said what the @#$ and bought 2 of them. I gotta admit they are neat very good detail. They are a  close copy of the very early FE and a late aftermarket block. And yes good detail.

You can hear the valve train. it's not too bad could be taken up a little. I also hear what does sound like the fuel pump arm. I have had a couple of those on my 427s that were noisy. My 2 running 427s both are really quiet in the valve train. Doug has heard my 56 F100 running at Beaver Springs.

Yesterday I took time to see What I had for heads, C7JE-A, C4AE-G. CJAE-R, D2AE-AA, C8AE-H (3sets), C1AE-A, there may be more, I`m still looking. I`m thinking any of them will work on this 410, I`m planning on a 4bbl with an aluminum intake. Got to see what I have stashed later today. I did find a Howard cam on line at one place and the lifters at another. Still thinking and looking for suggestions.

Funny, I was looking at a Howards cam HRCL259921-11 and thought that would work and then you showed the 31-12 and that might be a good choice too. Bret, I`m thinking flat tappit.

I need a little help picking a cam for my  truck that will haul my Galaxie and Tbolt wagon. Its a 64 F350 flatbed that I`m putting together. Current plan are a rear end swap to a Sterling 10.25 rear 4.11 gears 5 spd Clark OD tranny and a 410 Merc that I`m rebuilding. I`m looking for a low to mid range powerband engine speed. Highway speed to around 60-65 mph. I have stock 410 heads and a couple of stock 4bbl manifolds to choose from. Not looking for a drag truck but more of a work / daily driver. Some input here?

Did anyone notice the front carb has a choke plate? I thought all factory carbs did not have chokes, correct me if I`m wrong.

a proud owner of a 56 myself . welcome to the club. Mine has gone through 3 major builds since I got it. The last build was the most expensive but worth every penny. Tell us more about it.

Frank what did you do with the stock flywheel and clutch assy?  I`m looking for some FT stuff for a truck I`m building. It's going to be for hauling my car trailer around. Garry (GJCAT).

SSdynosaur, did you know Dave Straton? He was one of the parts guys. He lived here in Westfield NY and moved down there in the 60s and came back when H&M got out of racing. A real wealth of info and knew the parts system in & out.

I still think I would bolt the disc and PP down on the flywheel and check where the brg sets on the fingers. Garry

It looks like the whole arm is slightly askew. Also, you don't have it bolted to the flywheel with the clutch plate. This will position the arms correctly to how they run and change the pressure point. Mock it up first and you will see where the bearing will actually touch, you can do it on the bench before putting it on the crank under the car. I've done it many times when I thought something didn't look right.

The 2 Harleys look like a shovelhead and a blockhead. Those would be nice to get them and the other Fastback Stang.
