FE Technical Forum / CVR water pump question
« on: February 25, 2024, 10:05:57 AM »
I ordered a CVR 8000cl 55 gpm water pump in November and the delivery date was March 15 2024 now it says April.  I was looking at the small block pump 8560cl which is also 55 gpm and its 27 dollars more than the bare pump and it is in stock. Are all the pump and motors the same? Someone on here must have a small block. I could unbolt the stock brackets and bolt on Jays Brackets

FE Technical Forum / Battery fuse
« on: January 23, 2024, 08:05:43 PM »
I had to move my battery to the trunk to make room for a bigger radiator. I put a Moroso shut off on the battery box. I was wondering if I should put a fuse close to the battery. I have a 200amp fuse do you think that would be big enough to crank a 464 with a Robbmc starter?

FE Technical Forum / electrical connectors
« on: December 29, 2023, 07:57:46 PM »
I bought two Spal fans which have connectors on the end. I've been looking for them and can only find them with 8 feet of wire for 49 bucks each I need two. The part number is SBL-YAC-PT which comes with 8 feet of wire for 48 bucks each. I believe it's a 40-amp plug. I'm tempted to just cut it off and move on but it would be nice to be able to unplug them.

FE Technical Forum / CVR water pump dimensions
« on: December 28, 2023, 05:14:46 PM »
Hi, guys, I am upgrading my cooling system with a triple pass crossflow radiator. I am using two Spal 12-inch fans. I also ordered Jays water pump adapters for the CVR pump. The pump won't be available till March. There doesn't seem to be a lot of room in there. Can someone give me the dimensions mostly the height or the distance from the block mount to the tip of the motor, and the diameter of the motor?

                                Thanks in advance Harry

FE Technical Forum / Intake gaskets
« on: December 06, 2023, 05:14:31 PM »
I have been using a bit of oil this year mild driving not beating it too hard. I have a TKO600 so I'm not revving past 2500 cruising. The motor does run hot 200 210deg I have to admit, and I will be addressing that very soon. I've discussed the radiators and fans with Jay and Stangman. I hope its the intake gaskets the car runs good has a .700 lift roller cam about 620 hp flywheel. I noticed blue smoke during high vacuum conditions and the plugs look fine last time I changed them. Tailpipes are wet and oily which concerns me. My question is when I pull it apart what's the best intake gaskets for Barrys Proport heads? I bought some red rubber gaskets from Barry Yrs. ago but they are no longer available.

Non-FE Discussion Forum / 1969 Mustang disc brakes
« on: March 13, 2021, 06:01:40 PM »
Hi Guys about 10 years ago I installed hydro boost on my Mustang because there wasn't enough vacuum to run the brake booster. Fast forward 12 years I am putting in electric power steering because I'm tired of the sloppy steering and the clutter, I want to get rid of the power steering pump and hoses. What are you guys using for braking these days. I am considering putting in a vacuum booster and a electric vacuum pump.  What are the choices for manual disc brakes ? Opinions please of course I have a roller cam with a ton of overlap so the vacuum is no better now.

FE Technical Forum / cooling question
« on: June 28, 2020, 02:00:49 PM »
Hi guys I have a 69 Mustang FB with a 630 flywheel HP 428 .040 over, Edelbrock heads, .700 solid, roller, Scat forged crank, aluminum flywheel, Hooker 1 3/4 coated headers, 3" Magnaflow exhaust, Edelbrock aluminum water pump, Edwlbrock Victor, Champion 4 row radiator, Focus electric fans. I have a 160 stat, The car stays at 180 idleing all day if the temp is above 80 degrees outside. As soon as the motor goes above 2000 rpm the temp rises as high as 210 going 70 mph in overdrive. Let it idle and it eventually cools off. I realize Champion is not the best radiator but it gets rid of the heat when the engine is turning slow. The Focus fans aren't the the best either but at 70 mph in overdrive turning 2200 should be enough air without fans. I put in an 180 stat figuring the water doesn't have enough time to cool off but didn't help. No thermostat the same thing. The only thing I can figure is with the big cam and lots of overlap doesn't make horsepower till 2000 rpm. I even bought one of those aluminum pieces that covers the top of the grill to force air thru the radiator. I would buy a 1100 dollar Griffen if I knew it would solve the problem. Suggestions please.

FE Technical Forum / Carb tuning

I want to learn more about carburetors. Where can I find some info on fuel mixture besides jetting. My car runs good but the air fuel guage is all over the place. I have 13.5 idling, 11.0 between 2000 and 3000 and 13-14 all the way up to 6500. I was thinking of going fuel injection but reading the Holley and Fitech forum it seems to be ht or miss.

I have a 428 stroked to 464 solid roller, duration at .050  266.00 intake, 272.00 ex. .690, .700 110.0 center line 110 lobe separation. 850 Holly hp 80 jets pri 88 sec, 10.5:1 compression, Hooker 1 3/4, 3" exhaust. Timing 35 locked. Victor intake ported to Barrys cnc ported heads. Idles about 1200 at 13.5afr cruises between 2000 and 3000 at 11:1 afr.  in fourth gear from 3000 to 6500 foot to the floor it ranges 13.5:1 to 14.2 at 6500. Seems pretty good except 2-3000 is very fat. Should I just go down on the primary 2 sizes or am I over looking something?

FE Technical Forum / Stainless Steel Headers
« on: August 22, 2018, 06:47:39 AM »
Does anyone make custom headers for a 69 mustang out of stainless? I would like at least a 2" header. Right now I have Hooker 6114 that are Swain Tech coated. I think I am leaving power on the table with 1 3/4 headers. Ground clearance is a consideration. My 464 is making about 625 flywheel hp.

Hi guys looking for recommendations for a solid roller camshaft for my 464. Engine builder recommends Lunati solid bushed roller lifters he says they seem to survive well on the street. Engine specs are 10.5 compression CP pistons,4.25 forged scat crank, scat rods, Erson rockers, Barry R stage X heads flows 330 intake, MSD dist fixed advance, Edel Victor port matched, Hooker 1 3/4 , 3" exhaust. Holly 850, TKO-600, aluminum flywheel, 411 gears car weighs 3500 without my fat butt.
