i have broken oem rods at 2500/3000 rpm  a good friend broke a NEW 427SIDEOILER OEM SHORT BLOCK NOT rebuilt right from a ford dealership wiped block/crank/ every thing  the block never saw 3500 rpm  take a mic. and measure the web 1/2 inches below the rod pin  not only millions of cycles  if you look at enough of the you will find a paper thin web why chance breaking everything when good parts are finally available  yes i used the rods available in the 60s when anything better was REALLY expensive!!  on 1/2 mile paved track also picked up 1/2 428crank with damper/ parts of rds!!! broken oem rods just cost way too much to rebuild!! P.S.  at the end of the back straightaway the parts are really HOT!!! penny wise pound foolish??  today it is so nice to have good  parts where needed at a reasonable price  short of really expensive rods i like molnar  make your own good luck ::)

old(77) old iron  just remember there is a life cycle out there ( old circle tracker 5/8 mi) and thin webs hit many of us  street strip friend bought new sideoiler shortblock from dealer for his 67 fairlane  late 60s around 4500 rod broke below pin  i know alot of oem rods have run just fine  but why chance it today help oldiron survive   remember the hi-risers and hollow stem valves!!! heads (good ones) hard to find today yes the bigger bolts helped and used the big ford nascar bolts in early lemans rods       don't care how it looks--go fast---!

in early 60s bored a 352 1/8 and used 3.50 crank and jahn's pistons with a lot of compression cam was isky roller with two ears on one side of lifter and one ear on the other to attempt to keep the lifter in place  hi-po 352 heads    the thing would rev. like hell and was loud as hell  rollers didn't stay put and  could break any oem rod  -friend hit throttle in garage a little to much blew clutch disk without trying-!!    would like to see this project complete   please use a good aftermaket rod!!  myself and many friends lost a lot of good old motors in the day as  many rods break 1-11/2 in below pin   if you measure the web in the rod (thickness) you will scare yourself lemans rods too! good luck -oldiron. fe

To keep Kevin’s FE attorney at bay, I told the bride to book her dream trip to Hawaii as an anniversary present.  This sure seemed to soften the blow when we discussed the engine build LOL!  I’m not calculative enough to plan things that way, but hey, it worked...
Going with the 445 stroker kit, rpm intake (unless I stumble onto a Streetmaster per Jay), upgraded factory R heads (with CJ valves, POP’s end stands and spacers) and one of Brent’s magic hft cams.
