And his Dentside hop up...

He should have at least tried on of the popular Truck cams that are known to work...

FE Technical Forum / Jog my memory - Erson Adjusters
« on: June 21, 2020, 06:50:07 AM »
So on build number 1 I had issues with pushrods and adjusters.

Smith Brothers suggested an increased size ball and cup. Once again I can no longer read the invoice.

What would have been the typical upgrade there 10-15 years ago?

Related question:

Any one make an adjuster with a smaller nut (a lower profile adjuster)?

Yes, the "E" was the stacked CC for comp cams. It was hard to recognize. I'd post a picture but it's a pain in the ass to do so here...

Thank you.

I’m not sure why but these sorts of mysteries always intrigue me...

Somebody must have been having a bad day with the engraver...  :o

So was it a Comp?

The projected price is $750 a set and he is shooting for May 1st to be available. Not bad for a new castings. They do not have the choke boss so the pickup guys won't have to shave the driver side choke boss to clear power steering gear. We'll still need to curl or notch the passesnger side frame.

I’m sure it has been covered, but how much curling or notching? Anyone have a picture?
I have seen a curled frame. It is not really drastic, maybe 3" X 3/4". Looks like it would be best to pull the hood and right finders. I won't notch another one. The notch in my F-100 is cracked.

Thanks Chris, Tempting for a nice solid manifold... but with you certainly wouldn’t want a frame cracking...

You should be able to call Mahle and give them the piston number, and they should be able to tell you the CH.

Yep like I said at least some CS have the front sway bar, at least where bumpsides go there seems to be controversy as to whether all of them had it or not.

My truck isn’t a Camper Special, I’m just wondering if one or the other exits higher (or lower) which might help or change the exhaust routing.

Anyone know what specifically the difference in Sanderson FF427 and FF427CS are? Pictures would be fantastic. I know the CS is for Camper special but not sure what makes them different (Camper specials, at least some of them, have a front anti sway bar).

I can speak to 1 and somewhat lesser to 2.

1) Unless your heads are pretty nice already you're gonna have close to E-Head money in them, particularly if increasing valve size. I would not do it again. Granted, you're going to want to check the E-Heads over, but still...
,
2) Likewise it depends on what it needs, pistons, rings, bearings, arp bolts, re-size rods, grind crank, balance... bet you are at least halfway to a stroker kit if not three quarters... My situation was a little different as I started with a 360, but I've always said if I had it to do over I'd build at least a 410... with the current state of strokers, if you're gonna build a 410, you might as well build a 445...

3) You didn’t ask, but a two owner, one family Fairlane GT sounds like a car I would probably not make any irrevocable changes to...

You’ll probably get a lot more opinions and more expert too... :)

...and has "J489721" scribed in two places. ....

Is that a tiny “ny” in front of one of the J numbers? Could it be a partial VIN?

I guess I’m kinda surprised anyone still prints actual magazines... I was a Car Craft kinda guy (or Legendary Ford, or Mustangs and Fords)

I suppose as circulation goes down, cost go up. I might actually subscribe to one if they would give me an iPad copy too (a usable one, that reads like an actual magazine, not some flash/graphics riddled atrocity like some)

Anyway, it is a great pic of Jays car!!! go drop 8 bucks on a copy if you don’t subscribe and get a bonus engine masters article...  ;D

It is a great picture...  8) 8) 8)

8 bucks is a bit steep... you should get a cut...
