If the stock PCV valve doesn't work with the current engine build you can use an adjustable one such as:

Or use a PCV from a different application that has a different spring.

Ford management tried something similar in the late 70's. The idea is not really new. This was before online buying. Service was to be handled by regional service centers. Some of the regional centers were built, and staffed, but the whole deal , was finally put aside, except for Ford trucks. The truck deal, actually wasn't  a bad idea, ( talking Louisville line, big trucks ) , and worked until Jacque Nasser, sold off the big truck line. I think Jim Farley , is trying too scare dealers, but I don't  see it happening  any time soon. Buying out the dealers would get expensive, history shows.

It's really unfortunate that they sold the Louisville line. Once Freightliner got ahold of it they stopped building the L series and to this day you can't buy a light spec class 8 truck with big power like you could get in an L9000. Although the cabs were small, they were comfortable - ahead of their time for ergonomics.

Can you order warranty repairs and service work delivered to your door?

Non-FE Discussion Forum / Re: Shop Floor coatings
« on: July 27, 2022, 05:45:44 PM »
My vote would be no coating.  We have epoxy in our fire station and when it's wet, it's extremely slippery and hot tires from fire trucks have pulled it up in spots.  I don't know the brand, but ours stains from the various drips that are inevitable from a fire truck.  Spend the money you save on beer or car parts  LOL

I also would vote no coating. I've done both DIY epoxy and had several shops we had companies come and coat. NONE of them have really worked as well as bare concrete. I will preface this by saying that both my own DIY and the professional installs have been done in "heavy duty" shops. A coating would probably hold up fine for light use and in my garage the epoxy has been fine even though it was applied to an older pad. In my shop, I had half the floor done and even though that side was not used as much I still was always touching up spots. Extremely slippery even with the "traction" additive in it.

I'm not a fan of coated floors in a working shop. Unless it's like a clean room or other light traffic area. But, as I said, if your use is limited it will probably hold up fine. My lasted pretty well until the 1st clutch RnR on the dump truck!

I have the RRS strut front suspension kit for a 66.  Mustang II suspension is much more popular, I liked this route better, either way it's not a cheap endeavor...

Which brake kit did you use with the RRS stuff? It appears as though they use their own stuff or OEM stuff off an Aussie application rather than Wilwood or Bear or something. I like the idea of keeping the stress loads in essentially the same places as stock but have the extra room and reduce the tendency of the upper arm/top load coil to try and twist the rail inwards with the stock style suspension.

The o2 needs to be fairly close to or in the collector to be arcuate. If you don't want to modify the coated headers just put the sensor in the exhaust after the collector. There are tons of o2 sensors around these days, the Innovate still seems like a solid choice for price point as is the AEM. You can get more or less expensive depending on what you want. I've had good luck with my old AEM, it's been in a lot of projects and have been beat up and still works and uses a common wide band from a VW you can get at any parts store easy.

There are also strut conversions that allow you to take most of the tower out and less work and less stuff hanging off the bottom than the MII based kits. Enough to fit a Coyote or mod motor.

he did throw it in reverse or park not sure couldnt tell by shifter. Makes me want to go check my brakes. I had a scary situation with a throttle sticking at the track at 122 miles an hour
Its a bad feeling, alot goes through your mind. Leaves a pit in your stomach.

I believe it had a reverse valve body, but I'm not sure, you couldn't hear the parking pawl buzzing past the drum and the engine revs higher. I agree, it's a lousy feeling but it's rarely un-recoverable. The guy was just an idiot from whats shown in the video. If the throttle was sticking that bad they should have stopped then and fixed it. At the very least they should have stopped when the brakes were hot enough to smell because he's riding them. Just sad such a nice car was wrecked because of short sightedness.

Why didn't he stop when the brakes started fading? Maybe shut the engine off and throw it in park? Parking brake? Guy had a lot of options to try and save it. Too bad, not like anyone is making new 64 Comet sheet metal.

You can use all the outter stuff from a front GM 10 bolt or 44, it will all bolt onto the outter "C" on the Ford Dana 44. Converted from 5 lug to 6 to 8 lug in various directions doing this. Some of the TTB stuff will work, but most of that is unique to the TTB and there are a bunch of different versions of the TTB that all have different parts in them. Most of the parts can be bought new off the shelf as well. If you can find them in stock these days.

Thanks Richard! It made it to it's new home safe and sound. You can also stop looking for the owners manual, I found it....still in the glove box! After spending some time looking at it a little closer today, it's definitely got more rust than I thought. Looks like I'm going to spend the summer trying to find some good sheet metal or more likely building the pieces. Was hoping to have it back on the road by fall but it's going to be a winter project now. Everything but the fuel on the way home went smoothly. I thought I won the lotto when I found diesel for less than 6.40 a gallon!

I'd also check the rotor is decent and the cap still has the button in it.

Not to say they're all the same, but nearly all the hoists come from china with a few exceptions. Most of Rotary's stuff is still made in the US. Some of Mohawk and Challenger were still made in the US the last time I checked. That's why the prices on those are so much higher. Bendpak is really over-priced these days. From what I've seen the Olympic and Challenger stuff is just as nice as the Olympics I just ordered were so much of a price brake I basically got a free lift versus buying a Bendpak or similar.

I will say that the Rotary I'm replacing is quite old and lived most of it's life outside and still works. It outlasted a similar Bendpak lift by a good 6 or 7 years. But for what these are used for now I have no doubt the Olympics will be fine. So far they have been great.

If you don't mind German stuff, Steril-Koni makes some really nice lifts. We just bought 36 of their "wireless" column lifts over the last year and a half and they are very well built. But not all affordable!

Yes I've had plenty of chances, but I had a senior moment and completely forgot about it! I'll look tonight and post back if they're what your looking for.
