Oh I get it , you say "I" quite a bit . I get that you either didnt read nor grasped what I had to say about it. Well this is THAT information that people will read when they do a search.... I know I know , heart breaking that its not about you... But those are the breaks kid......
By the way , you got your answer fairly quickly , a person pissing and moaning about time and so forth would have just ride off into the sunset after getting what they asked for....But no , you clearly had the time to type away completely oblivious to anything not involving YOU..... Carry on.... Im late for the strip club....

Yeah Doug , I was dreaming up some sort of small nylon bushed rod ends to do something similar . I think that would do wonders for the whole situation.. This engine going in there now is really just a temporary deal to get the whole combination worked out so I will get another chance at doing some small modifications when it comes out and before the big one goes in. Im glad you posted that pic  , I was convinced that these mounts set the engine a tad lower. Unless of course you have the same adjustable mounts on that one....

I can sympathize. One thing I will say that I learned many years ago from a friend who owned a body shop/repairables business, and who helped me with my FE Mustang when I first got it - he taught me that these cars ( and other brands too ) will suffer from the shock towers sagging inward with age, even on rust free cars. A lot of times the issues people have with header bolts to shock tower clearance, that can be part of the issue. We had some other front end sheet metal work to do on my car from accident damage, but at the time he also put my car on the Kansas Jack frame device, and pulled the shock towers out considerably to get them back into spec. Using the combination of an original Ford heavy gauge export brace, and a Monte Carlo bar, seems to have stabilized the issue, and it hasn’t changed since. There are frame and engine compartment dimensions, diagrams, and reference points, in the Ford Shop Manuals. I would advise anyone to check those dimensions when they get a chance, sometimes it will explain the issue.

Yeah Kevin , the coupe I ran this CJ in for some years had been all kinds of abused before I got it and I had to deal with that in the shock towers . I eventually cut them later down the road as the car was nothing special and I was young and didnt really care.. This 70 is the real deal R code so it has these friggin straps on the towers which make things all the more tight It doesnt help that the straps dont even fit tight against the towers so they take up about double the room they need to.

Motorcraft KM=308 .
This setup is using Jays water pump adapters and a 21" cross flow with 1.250 phenolic spacers under it from the stock lower mounts. Its important to note that I did indeed combine the short nipple on the pump with a long nipple to get the length I have so this deal is somewhat a one off . I found personally that using either of the nipples by themselves with these adapters and Jays timing cover would give you a tight fit between the cover and the nipple (Using the size that I chose which is the same as the stock CJ pump)

By the way. This radiator is the proform 69590-21 . The entire unit with fan and shroud is only 4" thick. This is a nice option for a mustang if it performs well. I havnt run this thing yet so I cannot vouch for how well it does but I dont see any reason that it wouldnt do what its supposed to at this point. I will attach a couple of pics

Yeah another guy posted saying that part number I believe fit on his with the same steering box I am using. I didnt want the small tubes however . These are 2" with merge collectors .

Well MeanGene I dont really care in case that wasnt already crystal clear. WHat I posted was relevant to the discussion which will be read by others than yourself seeking information and the whys of the whole thing... I assure you , my time is a bunch more valuable than yours . not to be harsh or anything.....

Yeah this isnt my first rodeo with this old girl . I had a four speed S code in the 80s then this CJ was in a coupe I had with dougs headers on it Then in this R code prior to  my blowing it apart in the late 90s and life happening in the form of an incident with a tow truck and compound fractures and wheel chairs for some years then life just kinda went in another direction so this old war horse just sat sleeping for many years.
So I was 27 the last time I tangled with big tubes and shock towers and cramps in yours hands and wishing that you had more joints in your fingers and arms... The wrenches I had heated and bent are long gone today as well. Doing this at 55 lets say is a bit harder....
I will say this. I had it in the back of my mind when I was building this set of headers but right now there is no doubt in my mind that I will modify this system so that it all goes together before it goes in the car. The car of course would be void of steering components and cross member . So pretty much whatever happens its all made to come out easy as one and go back the same way...Engine , trans , headers . all of it.
It seems like a bunch of work but there is no doubt you can do a better job of it and do it much faster...
I segmented the front tubes for this reason so I would simply need to modify the back 4 so they drop off easy , just leaving the short stubs going up to the flanges.
I am proud to say that I have all the bolts in the header flanges on both sides accept for one bolt each on the rear tubes...

Well the popcorn crack wouldnt be inaccurate now would it ? Ive seen people going on about these things like they own stock in the gear makers... Hell , maybe they do !! This goes back to my first post about this.. Ya gotta start by understanding where the folks are coming from. Yeah they might go a little hard on what they believe but there is a pretty good reason they believe what they do.

The motor craft hose did the trick . Was the right sizes and after cutting about 2" off the pump side was the right length...

The whole thing really just makes sense when you know the timeline of everything . But in saying that , the whole mass of confusion just makes sense as well. I mean , why even sell a bronze hear anymore ? Why have all these damn flavors of gears floating around out there unless they are simply stock that was produced and vendors are still trying to off load them.
It would seem that you only real need the cast , and the steel now... The ones requiring the melonized as I always knew it was the stock for rollers and a small part of the aftermarket that was producing cams that followed the OEMs manufacturing process.....

I mean seriously , your regular guy thats an accountant or whatever hes putting an engine together and hes not a dumb guy. He goes online and does a little reading hes buying a bronze gear more than likely if he got the roller cam... I mean the information thats out there will refresh over time and when that same kinda guy searches he will get a steel gear but that might take awhile... The melonized gears are jsut not something talked about all that much... Atleast in what ive read over the years... Mostly see it when looking on the small block ford forums dealing with the alphabet cams and stockers...Then the exact same discussions start...

Bleh , I swear that Motorcraft KM-308 looks like the ticket .  Its from a 71-3 mustang cougar with the cross flow and probably has the same thing going on . https://www.ebay.com/p/80987424 .
I may just roll the dice and save the frustration ,,,,,,,,, maybe,,,

Before I am doomed to go in the back room at the local Napa and search through late model hoses I thought I would ask here. Anyone have roughly this configuration on the lower and found a formed hose that fits ? I modified the input on the water pump to get it away from the cover but the stocker still wont go. The stock hose comes out of the radiator and goes up to meet the water pump which is on a  higher plane. The inlet on the water pump here points lower then the port on the rad. So the hose has tome come out and duck down. I know I can use a flexy thing but I hate the look of those damn things...

This is in a 70 mustang by the way and I have those adjustable engine mounts on it which I swear lower the engine a touch.

Thanks
