back when i was a teen in the 70s my papaw had a 71 f250 he bought new to haul his camper.i got the truck of him when i was 18 years old.it only had 9000 miles on it.i ran it in a ditch one night and wrecked the pass finder and hit a culvert with the front wheel.i sold it to a man for 800 dollars and he quickly fixed it.forty years passed and i saw the man at the grocery store last week and i recognized him. i said do you still have my old f250 and he said yes.he said he parked it sideways on a hill and water ran through the hood seal and on top of the breather and into the carb.he said the engine will turn over-360.but the carb is frozen.he said it was not parked that way just a few weeks.i asked him if he would sell it back to me and he said yes.i said how much,knowing i almost gave it to him for 800 dollars.he said i could have it back for 500 dollars.i asked about rust and he said the body was good and it still had under 70,000 miles on it.he remembered my dad and was good friends with him is why he priced it back so cheap.he said he even got the seat covered and it looks new.i cant wait to bring it home.ANY IDEAS ON FIRST STEPS TO FIXING WATER DAMAGE WHERE IT GOT INTO CARB.i am going to fix it even if it means rebuilding or replacing engine.

i just installed a nx kit on my 428.any thing i need to do or check before using.retard timing,colder plugs,wot switch,purge kit, race gas, bottle pressure 950 area. im running a 4 speed so i thought i might use the wot switch instead or with the push button.any suggestions? im going to use the 100 shot jets.

i bought an 850dp back in 1984 and i have put it on 3 different fe engines.i put it on my 433 5 years ago after it sat for a few years,it got corroded on the inside so i bought a new 850 and already got rid of the old one, problem is the old 850 was very crisp and quick revving and the new one seems lazy in comparison.im in the market for another carb that will perform like my old 850 did.  any recommendations.

my clutch pedal goes sideways when you mash it down.i guess bushings are shot.i dont know much about it.is it a very big or complicated job to rebuild these on a 66 comet.

like the big dummy i am,when i was lowering my floor jack a block of wood popped out and i somehow dented the front bottom of my oil pan.no pics but it dont leak and it looks like someone punched a dent in it,not too bad but still a bunch of b.s. that it happened.just put the engine and trans in,and started for the first time in 6 months.      comments?. how far is the pickup screen from the front bottom of the oil pan-66 comet

i have a situation. im putting a 4 speed back in my 66 comet.i ordered a new shifter,flywheel,clutch kit,all new bolts and a anti rattle spring for my bell.all my parts came in last week except the spring.my neighbor was going to help me drop the motor-trans back in my comet.but he is moving across state next week.are there anything else i can do to replace the spring so he can help me tonight and tomorrow or do i need to wait on the spring and worry my wife to death while im in the garage alone. 

i ordered a ford racing flywheel from ford racing about a week ago.i dont have tracking and a have not heard from them.im putting a 4 speed in my comet,and my neighbor is helping me but he is moving at the end of the month.i was wandering how long it might take to get my flywheel.anyone bought one from FR remember how long it took to get it.
