i fired my 428 up after sitting for 9 months. next time i tried to start it,it would not fire up.the rotor button had a hole burned in the center medal piece,the ball in the inside top center of the cap looked melted and the mech advance springs were rusted,condensation i guess.i pulled the cap and wires off without paying attention to where they were on the cap.i spun the motor over and found top dead but problem is it looks like the rotor is pointing between two plug wires but it is closer to the one to the left side of the pointer.i did not pull the distributor and it was running great.i ordered a new cap and rotor but i wanted to make sure and wire it back right.why is pointer not looking like its pointing directly at wire?

i may have asked before,but its been a while.can i get a stock oil pan off of a 66-67 fairlane or comet without pulling the engine or lifting it slightly.if so does anyone know the procedure.im ready to get back on my comet.i have been tinkering with my papaws old 73 f250 for the last few months but i have my comet up in the air right now and im getting ready to replace the oil pan and my z-bar.

do under drive pulleys amount to any hp.if so im running an alt and water pump only.do you change the crank pulley or the water pump pulley,or both.someone explain please

i recently bought my papaws old truck back-73 f250,360 2bbl, 4 speed.i cleaned the gas tank,new sending unit,new fuel pump,kit in carb and a new clear fuel filter.heres the problem,everything seems to be working,filter filled with fuel,plenty of pressure,BUT,if you fill the carb bowl with fuel and a little down the carb  it runs for about a minute and dies like its out of fuel?

i took the 2bbl carb off my f250 and took it apart and cleaned it. very gummed up inside. i put it back on,problem is now it backfires out the exhaust every few seconds depending on how much throttle i give it.what did i do wrong?

i want to personally thank all you guys who responded to all my FE troubles and triumphs over the last few years.ESPECIALLY those who gave me free advice.some places and or people wont respond to certain questions unless there is a chance for making profit off of them.

im trying to fix up my papaws old f250 i just bought back of a friend who has had it for the last 40 years.but anyway,the 2 bbl carb  on the 360 is frozen and needs replaced.i have 2 of them but neither will function properly. DOES ANYONE HAVE A DECENT,KNOWN WORKING 2BBL CARB AT A DECENT PRICE. i only gave 500 for the truck, IM trying to get it running without spending more on parts than i gave for the truck. battery,tune-up,oil change,carb,tires,etc.
