both heads cleaned with purple power industrial strength parts cleaner/de-greaser and a firm bristle brush then pressure washed with hot water. i was pleased with how well it removed the grime and oil coating. next i sprayed the one head with Duragloss 860 aluminum etching cleaner and let set for 1 minute then rinsed with the pressure washer. needless to say i was very happy with the results . i got lucky and picked up the duragloss from northern tool co and it was on the reduced rack so i bought the 3 remaining bottles they had left.  just thought id share ..

personally i have always been pleased with MSD products and especially there customer service  and tech support. Also the diagnostic tools and test equipment they offer so you can easily diagnose and adjust your own ignition systems .

I have never run ICE ignition but have used both Mallory and MSD . I think they both have good stuff and think it all depends on the application. Mallory seems to make good dependable products that seem to hold up very well in street rods and 4x4 off road stuff. As far as serious high performance and especially racing conditions I would give the nod to MSD. I use all MSD in my race car cept for the distributor itself. Its an old gutted out Mallory YL that I use with my MSD crank trigger ignition.  Maybe I should take a look at this ICE ignition you speak of.. lol

I'm 49 and still I can remember being 11 and going out and "helping" my dad change the valve stem seals on the 390 4v in his 66 galaxie. My dad was very handy but the funny thing was he hated working on cars but needed to save a buck so he did everything he could himself. I remember him letting me feed the rope down inside the sparkplug hole so he could bump the pistion up to hold the valves up so he could change the seals. I felt like I was helping and will always remember him telling me, "boy, this cars been good to me and someday when its yours if you take care of it it will be good to you to. I loved that car right on up to the time when I was 25 and a women made a left turn at a high speed intersection right in front of me..  uggh...

Reminds me of a great friend I had, always wanted above top dollar for everything. If he would have sold it at a fair price he would have had a good chunk of change. Instead he passed away and his kids knew nothing about what he had. One of his old x friends jumped on them right away and made a dirt cheap offer for everything and they ended up not getting near what it was worth. Just seemed sad and ironic that he wanted way to much and they took way to little.
Its cool though knowing this old stuff is laying around somewhere though..

Any suggestions on any kind of modifications (besides a good windage tray) that may need to be done to a full sump 9/10 qt truck pan for drag racing application's. ?  I use wheelie bars so I'm not doing giant wheels stands. I use the big fat tube rear pick-up with a good brace of course. How about any good suggestions on a aftermarket full sump pan.? Most aftermarket pans I see are either front sump, rear sump, or road race variety.  Does anyone make a stamped steel full sump pan or is a fabricated pan my only option ? ..

Any good ideas on a good aluminium cleaner ?  Looking for something to clean heads, intakes, satin finish aluminium wheels, ect. At one time there was a product called "greaseoff" that could be gotten from hardware store's.  It worked way better than any of the royal purple type stuff.. I haven't seen it for a few years though. I have really good luck with the "etching" type wheel cleaner and it makes heads and manifolds look brand new but its really exspensive to be using on large parts. Was wondering if any of you guys have ran across anything that works realy well.

Possibly an irrigation block maybe. ? A block deemed not suitable for automotive use because of thin cylinder bores or core shif or some other problems with the casting. Many Fe/Ft blocks that would not pass inspection for automotive use where used for earagation/industrial/farm use because they were deemed to be acceptable for continuous low RPM use.. just a thought, I could be wrong for sure. I found a block just a year ago that was a standard 390 bore but was cast with the cross bolt bosses and appeared to be one of the blocks with the high manganese silicon content,  thought I had a gem. The cylinders were to thin to even do a .030 over bore.  Was a heart breaker.

Thanks guys for the info. I just was curious if there was anyone that actually used one and what the benefits may be. I have been plenty happy with modified stock style pumps so im thinking for now unless there be a overwhelming reason that ill stick with that. Maybe use that $ more wisely such as on one of Jay's intake adapters. ..

It's a costly piece indeed.  I have had one in my hands and it looked like a nice piece but haven't been able to get much info from anyone useing it. I know billet fab still offers the pump/pan combo. Maybe just stick with the modified melling/milodon pumps and the old full sump truck pan.  ???  Any views on volume versus pressure for the Fe ? Another can of worms lol.  Thanks for the link, ill deff check it out.
