FE Technical Forum / Bearing questions
« on: October 19, 2015, 12:03:25 PM »
So the 125m main bearigs are obviously one of the top choices among most here for performance and racing, what about rod bearings ? 2.200 with dowl pin holes are needed . Whats a good choice? Durabond cam bearings ofcourse but coated or not coated ? Drag race only. No street duty. .

FE Technical Forum / painting inside of iron blocks.
« on: September 21, 2015, 08:39:10 AM »
Anyone still painting the inside of there blocks with GLYPTAL ?
just a curious question. Some old schoolers swear by it. Others say its a waist of time. Like to know what some of the pro engine builders here think. I got a can on the shelf.. should I use it ?  Id be worried about adhesion no matter how well its prepped and cleaned. Never used it before except in actual electric motor housing for the blowers in the cooling tower.

FE Technical Forum / adjustable timing set
« on: September 16, 2015, 02:56:10 PM »
Anyone here use either the Lunati #95105 or the comp cams #3108kt adjustable billet timing chain sets ? Looks like the cam gear has 6* + or - of adjustment as well as multiple key ways on the crank gear. I was wondering if this is similar to the set up that Barry was developing and hoping cloyds would catch on..

FE Technical Forum / gear drives V belt drives V rollmaster type chains
« on: September 08, 2015, 12:18:00 PM »
What the opinion on these types of cam drives. ?
Are gear drives really that hard on things?  Power robbing ?
Belt drives worth the hype ? Definitely alot of serious racers using them.
Just looking for opinions. .

FE Technical Forum / ford feaver classic..
« on: September 04, 2015, 12:17:48 PM »
Just over a month away. All ford drag racing, car show and swap meet.  The 422 motorsports guys with there awesome Fe's . Ill be in the swap meet area Saturday and sunday selling some FE race stuff as well as some other junk. Its a good time every year and normally the weather is really nice. Theres a slight chance that the pale rider or one of the other Booze brothers cars may be there,  Charlie told me last year they still had all that stuff and could be blowing the dust off it soon for fun. Would be awesome seeing one of those galaxies busting off a mid 8 second run.

FE Technical Forum / pressure v volume
« on: August 19, 2015, 11:34:31 PM »
Id like to hear some input on oil pressure versus volume in a higher rpm race type Fe engine.  What kinda pressures do you guys like to see ? When should you worry about washing the bearings out and over heating. ?  I have always went the volume route and not stressed to much over pressure but id like to hear what you guys think.

Private Classifieds / PSE Base/intake combo. SOLD SOLD
« on: August 18, 2015, 09:21:55 PM »
SOLD

FOR SALE
PSE Fe intake base/Cleveland 2v-3v sheet metal intake combo. I have had this base for 15 years and it has served me well, right now its port matched to a pro power fabricated intake. I used pro poxy for the ports so it can easy be hogged back out to a 4v if wanted. This base has been massaged a few times but is in great shape with no leaks. Needs a good home and some massaging and is a great candidate for someone. I had planned on keeping the base and using it on the nostalgia blower motor with a Cleveland blower manifold but the guy decided to go small block, Its plumbed for reverse cylinder head cooling but ill furnish caps or you can remove fittings and instal 3/8" npt plugs. Intake runners are also tapped to 1/8" npt and pluged for old style fogger nozzles.  The Cleveland fabricated intake has had the belly cut out so its pretty much only good to be used on a base or could be used on a Cleveland with a modified/fabricated belly pan. Includes neoprene custom intake gaskets, stainless hardware,  brass caps for flair fittings.
Also available is a holley 850 annular boster dbl pumb carb. No choke, duel 50cc pumps , rear jet exstentions, nice old carb ready to run.
Port matched Adapter base  + manifold combo - $900.oo
Add carb - $300.oo
Full or part trades considered,  what ya got ?

I want to take a minute and thank Jim and his staff for the awesome work and quick turn around on my heads. They made sure I knew what was going on at all times, informed me of the progress that was made and called me several times during the process if there was ever any questions. I had a few conversations with Jim and he always took the time to talk to me and make suggestions and thanks to Larry  for keeping me very informed as well .
Thanks guys, I couldn't be happier with not only the awesome work and results but the communication as well.

FE Technical Forum / CNC markings
« on: August 12, 2015, 06:58:20 AM »
So, I have heard so many different opinions on this but I figure theres some of the very best Fe engine builders right here on this forum so I have to ask.
To smooth out the CNC marks in heads and manifolds or leave them as they are ?
I remember reading countless articles back in the day about dimpling runners and combustion chambers and its benefits and effect on fuel/air tumbling.  I would think if it was any real benefit that it would be a more common practice these days but you don't see much about it. I'm wondering if that's why some head guys leave the CNC markings in the ports but smooth and polish the combustion chamber's.
Hoping this isn't to dumb of a question.. uggh..  :o
I'm just curious
