Thinking about goin there next weekend to check it out. It will be the first time racing since 1997 alittle excited. My boss at work bought the track last year. FE Technical Forum / inner springs
« on: October 16, 2015, 08:36:24 PM »
So as most know broke motor in last week and was able to get over there today to put inner springs in  got finished and put rockers on and torqued. went to turn motor over to adjust valves and put valve covers on but couldnt turn motor over. Rockerarms went on normal. Take rockers off and motor spins put rockers on pass side and motor dont spin take off and put drivers side on and wont spin. So tommorrow will be taking inner springs back out, I did notice a hairline crack in a rocker Im assuming because off this problem. used old time spring screw compressor and wasnt to bad putting them in, but obvoisly its the only thing I changed because breakin went good and was running well. maybe pring isnt sitting right but I would think it would have been a real pain in the ass to get keepers back in  HELP

Non-FE Discussion Forum / First start
« on: September 24, 2015, 11:54:43 PM »
Hey guys started the 482 today  started right up and got it to 2300 rpm it was running for about ten minutes at 195 and then it started to creep up after another two minutes it was about 215-220 lowered idle a smidge and had my buddy shut it off. Now I am running straight water during breakin and 180 thermostat aluminum edelbrock water pump CVF 5.4 inch w/p pulleys jegs electric fans 11 inch Jegs with shroud. I haven't timed it or done any carb adjustments so maybe that's why it's running a little warm. I just though with the new water pump pulley and lower compression and a little smaller cam it would have been better. I took the oil filter apart and I don't see anything bad a couple of speckles but all in all clean. What do ya think 12 minutes ain't enough of a break in for solid cam any advice will be welcome

FE Technical Forum / Cam lube
« on: July 21, 2015, 11:57:20 AM »
About to put intake on and going to lube cam with what it cam with which from the 5/8 oz packet it seems thin I remember the black cam lube that was like brake grease . If I don't get to start it for a week or two I feel it will just drip off, is that not the case. It is a solid cam I will be using brad penn breaking oil but is there a better cam lube something with a little more substance or use the comp cams lube that it came with
