Thank you very much for that info.
It's nice to know my thinking is in the ball park.
Also thanks for the car pix, that tells me a lot.
BTW your car is beautiful.

Thanks Marc, I appreciate it! Glad to help.

Hey Marc, good job on the cowl. ;) I have the Calvert split-monos with 1 inch drop on my 66. Running Mickey Thompson 255/60R15 ET street radials. As far as the fronts go, I used stock replacement big block springs and kept cutting a quarter at a time until I was satisfied with the height. The springs had been on the car for some years so they were already settled. In the end, I believe I ended up taking 3/4 of a coil off. I bought the roller spring perches and camber kit from Opentracker, 67 mustang tubular lower control arms and tubular tie rod adjusting sleeves from Global West, and KYB shocks. I also had some upper front shock mounts made from 1/4" thick flat steel plate mainly to try to save my low hanging Ed's headers on the street, but will also benefit at the track with better rise. I think you will like the Yukon unit. I had runout problems with several new carriers when setting up my new rear. I finally settled for the 31 spline Trac-Lok from Quick Performance. It looked great out of the box and set up perfectly. I have probably 700-750 miles on the unit with no complaints. Still waiting to get it to the track though. Btw, with all the roller/solid bushings in the suspension I think it actually rides smoother now. :D Having a hard time uploading pics with the file size, so a link to a couple photos below.

Howie,
I got one of those new tanks also.  I put in a new sender and pickup, but had to use the old OEM lock ring; the new one didn't allow a good enough tank to sender seal.  Ask me how I know this!  :o

I use Rock Auto quite a bit, they have a good variety and it's mostly reasonable. They are very organized on shipping, etc.

+1 what Bruce said, my dad and I both ordered replacement tanks from Rockauto mine is a 66, he has a 67. We both also have the 1/2" sending unit from Robbmc. I had to add a resistor in parallel to get the fuel gauge to be accurate in  the fairlane though. Other than that both seem to be great parts.

It was a mates wedding. Seems like the only time I take photos of it!

Oh, ok. Just curious. Btw, the car looks very clean! Also, do you have any pics of the engine?

66FAIRLANE, not trying to sound too dumb here, but what is the "ribbon" for that stretches from the grille ornament to the vent windows?

Anyone running rear leaf sliders with the Calvert set up?
I already have Caltracs on my 66 Fairlane and wanting to try the Calvert springs and shocks.
Car was originally built with rear leaf sliders and would like to not have to torch them off.
I know they discuss this on their web site but wanting to find out first hand from someone.
Great topic guys and good info.

I couldn't say on the sliders Gary, but this is the setup on my 66. It has Calvert split-monos (1" drop), Caltracs, KYB gas adjust shocks, replacement shackles w/polyurethane bushings, new rubber spring insulators with insulator pads, and pinion wedge shims sandwiched in between. Ride is excellent and plants very well. Still waiting to get to the track to test all the new suspension out. The front has been gone through as well.

Hello everyone, My name is Jared and I thouht I would finally join the forum since I read  it everyday. I am from northern Illinois. I have been into FEs for a few years and have one of my own. It's a 390 that currently resides in my 66 Fairlane GT. It is originally a Nightmist Blue GT 390 4 speed car. I have been involved with FEs since my dad has owned and raced them since he was a kid. I enjoy reading this forum very much.
