Thanks Babybolt I did try calling Dan Williams last night up until 12:00 and today and all you get is a busy single on the phone. Either he is one busy son of a gun or he just dont answer. You can not even leave a message. Do you or anybody else have a different number other than(828-524-9085) or a different way a person could get a hold of him. I did look on David Kee web sight and he has the shaft but for $40.00 more and he want $30.00 to ship it which is crazy. OK I am done now. Thanks anyway

FE Technical Forum / snap in mounting single contact bulb
« on: February 02, 2016, 04:36:57 PM »
I know this is a bit off of the subject FE but it is for a car with a FE engine in it. What I am looking to where would a guy get a snap in mounting plastic single contact light bulb socket. Like for the # 53 or # 57 bulb. I believed the older car had them for the dash lights. I think they were black plastic push snap in 2 wire. One wire is for power and the other one is ground. The socket needs to be plastic with its own ground wire because a metal socket would ground out and not turn off the oil pressure switch. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance

Thanks Andy for getting back to me on the diff. angle. This is were I am a little fuzzy. Hopefully without getting into a big discussion on this, just a couple of questions if you would. Most ever thing I read tells me the diff. needs to be angled down at lease 1 1/2 to 4 degrees for spring rap? This is also what Nick from GV told me? If this is true do I spacer the tran. with shims to get 0 degrees and then shim the diff. to get 1 1/2 to4 degrees?
Or can I do the opposite with the trans and diff. kind of like it is now and have no vib? Does the diff. needed to be pointed down or our we just looking for numbers like you mention? Once again thanks for your time and answers. p.s. great looking car

Thanks Andy for sharing your past post about installing your GV. Rick told me that it would fit in a mustang with no problem? We will see. I did get some good tips on the installation of your GV. I am still a little fuzzy on the driveshaft angles. As of right now my trans angle is at 1.7 degree down and my diff. is at 2.7 degree up. I think I will put some 4 degree wedges in my diff. to angle it back down below center and see how that works. All the reading I did on driveshaft angles just drives me crazy. I am going to order a GV after x-mas. After bills are paid and then I will get my present. Then I have the rest of the winter to install it because I live in WI. and we do have that white stuff on the ground to deal with. Thanks again for the help from you and Jay, and will update when this project begins.

I was told by Nick from GV that they have a rocker switch or a button in the shifter handle instead of the foot switch. That way he said the way the upshift works is anything over 700 psi pump pressure it will shift into high. They have a digital box know instead of a foot switch. Another words if you are in 1st. gear and push the switch it will not shift until the pressure is 700psi. Then when you shift to second it will be in 2nd. high. He does not recommend to try to split the gears because after 700psi. which is anything above 1st. gear high the trans will drop back down to the main gear you are in if you push the switch to low. You could over rev if you would do that. Nick also said you could be cruising in 2nd. gear and mat the throttle and hit the switch the GV will up shift right now (no leg) into 2nd. high because the pump psi is above 700psi. He said the best is the auto launch from 1st. to 1st. high where you need it the most in a stick car. Also for the 4th. overdrive on the high way. Sorry so long but sounds like I am going the GV way instead of the TKO 600 -5 speed. Thanks for the replys

I am wondering if you used your gear vender during drag week at the track? The first gear shift under power? I am still on the fence if I should go GV with the wide ratio 4-speed,3.89 gear which is in the car now or the TKO 600 5 speed. I would like it for some mileage and I think the GV would be a little more fun off of the line with it shelf shifting to 1 high under power. This is for street use only. 1969 Mach 1 Thanks ahead

Hi Jay and thanks for your input on the GV. Great job on Drag Week. I am the guy that would of went and got you some oil at union grove Wi. if need be? Anyway if I would go with the TKO I would make a bushing for the throw out bearing to accept the TKO input. This way all I would have to do is change the clutch disc and not change the pressure plate to a smaller 3 finger and then the assem. would not have to be rebalanced? I then would not have to buy a fork or throw out bearing. I am leaning towards the GV because I like the way you can shift it under load out of first gear and then shift to 2nd gear which would be 2nd high all under power. One thing I would have to do is change my main shaft to a 14 inch. shaft. As of now the trans. in the mustang is from a 1969 Fairlane which has the correct spot for the shifter but it has a main shaft of 17 inches long. Rick from GV said that they don't make a adapter for a long shaft top loader. Its not a big deal because I have had it apart before when I made it a wide ratio. I am a little afraid of the TKO and there stiff shifting problem they may have at anything over 6000 RPM. My top loader shifts good at 6200-6300 RPM. My engine peaks at 5900 RPM. Sorry for being long winded but just trying to get a handle on this before I spend money and maybe make a mistake. Thanks    Dan

What I have is a 1969 Mach1 with a 445 stroker with a Big in and out wide ratio with a 3.89 locker gear and a 28 inch. tall tire. I am wanting to start to drive the car on more road trips then I use to. I am looking for thoughts on what would be the best for a overdrive. As of now my 4 speed shifts fine at 6200 rpm. I seen reports on the TKO not shifting at that rpm, even with the updated work to the blocking rings. True or False? I do know what is all involved with installing the TKO and the gear vender. One question about the GV, will the factory parking brake cable and hardware still work as before like it did with the top loader. Any input or thoughts would be great. Thanks

Just my 2 cents, but next time you firer that bad boy up maybe you could put a couple of big box fans in front of car to help cooling while you do some adjusting ?
