Are those standard MR valve sizes, or 2 1/4"? Also, chamber CC's?

That car is dead nuts straight as an arrow every pass. He's got it dialed perfectly, and keeps upping the 10.5 record just about every time he runs. It really is amazing how dependable that stock block has been for him, and to show up all that billet pro-mod stuff is an incredible feat.

Is this a DR4, or a DR4-4? Parts are no longer available for the earlier DR4. Also, is it a clutchless shift, or clutch assisted? Price for sale outright?

Good grief, who pissed in your Wheaties? The only response to that is to just walk away.

Bob, if it has to be explained to you, then you don't get it at all. As for "no money", don't you root for Jay every time he's been at Drag Week? No money involved there either, only bragging rights, and I would bet that he has WAY more invested than that flathead, and a turbo small block could easily outrun him.

It's amazing what they did with that flathead. When you see how the pushrod set-ups are for that Ardun OHV, it's even more amazing.

The only FE in the whole event, that I'm aware of, is Scott Miller and his Cougar. He's been running 9.3-9.2 and is currently in 4th place in his class. The competition just keeps getting stouter, and for his set-up, I think he's about reached the limit while maintaining dependability. He ran a couple of 9.0's in 2019 and came away with the win, but this year, as of today, 8.7 is the leading average. It's a tough class.

With both sides failing at the same time is it possible the install was not correct? ie: pushed on the the outer race, it doesn't take much
Which bearings?

Yeah, sound like instead of pressing the inner race he stuck on the outer race and pushed on it, deforming the roller cages.

That would be my first guess also, but first check out the bearing maker and report back. China has been putting out some bad bearings for some time now. It has more to do with heat treat than anything else.

As for 'pressing' them on, I've always used a pipe with the correct diameter for the inner race, and a heavy hammer. Never had issues. You don't have to beat hard, just firm taps, and making sure the pipe has a level face that contacts the bearing in a full 360*.

Fantastic work, Jared. You and Keith (fekbmax) take it to the next level with your attention to detail. I really hope you're satisfied with the results when you get to drive it and get some tuning done.

Just curious, what's the thought process on the external bypass for the oil pump? Once you get any bugs worked out and are satisfied that it's dependable, do you have any hopes for a drag & drive event, or just street and strip miles?

This is the first I've seen anyone even mention the FER&R. It looked like a lot of rain in the area Saturday, so wasn't sure if they got the track dry enough to race.
Glad you had fun and got a win, Joe, and glad you got your Dad there. Makes up for some of the disappointment. That's a bummer about the convertor not working out. It was looser than your old one, wasn't it?

Looks good and sounds healthy, Jared. Is that a BBM head/intake combo?
I hope you have some fun with it.

Why change the starter if it works? A new one will probably be inferior to the one you have on it now.

Congrats, Leny. Hope you are enjoying the car after all that work.

If you decide to trigger an MSD with points, they will see little power and last a very long time.  It works well

I triggered the MSD Blaster in my Highboy for 25 years using ONE set of points. They do last forever, I just checked the gap occasionally to make sure there was one. Dwell doesn't matter, so gap is not important, and the voltage is so low that arcing is non-existent. Engine never went over 5500, so bounce was not an issue. If the box ever went bad (never happened), all I had to do was switch a couple of wires and I was back on my way with a stock set-up. Best of both worlds, in my opinion. BTW, that Blaster is now in my '70 F350. Been going strong for 30 years now.

FE Technical Forum / Ohio George passes away

My wife pointed this out to me. Sad to see another legend pass away. He was a great figure at the Reunions and always had great stories. I'm glad I had the opportunity to have him sign my original Ohio George models.
