Heo, normally I wouldn't comment on someone's scavenger hunt but you mentioned a bunch of detonators.  If we're on the same page language wise, those are some exceptionally dangerious pieces to have around.  My suggestion would be to call the closest bomb squad and get them to pick the detonators up for disposal.

Now before someone goes off the deep end, I spent 20 years as a military policeman and firearms instructor and now I'm a DHS instructor.  I've seen a lot of explosives in my time and dealt with EOD a huge amount.  My oldest son is USAF EOD even.  And I can tell you that detonators are (many times) more dangerous than bulk explosives themselves.  I'd get them removed by a professional ASAP.

Steve
Yes i know old explosives are dangerous and i dont want to play around with them
But the detonators are empty they had saved them for aluminium scrap
to melt down i dont think they had thrown then in the Owen if they were explosive ;D ;D

But there was two guys a couple of years ago in the same Town where the foundry was.
That had found a bunchof hiden weapons and among them lots of artillery Shells
.And Blew up the garage and them selfs to.
The bomb squad found 30-40 Shells spread around the house
They still find hiden weapons in Finland every year when they tear down old houses
and so on

A guy im my Town had a 63 impala with N50s maby 4 inch
hanging out. And he had  cut front springs  riding shotgun
you had to hold on to the dashbord. The rear bumper was
so high you could drive under it with Another car :o
I still remember the first time i saw it i was maby 13-14
years old and thought it was the most awsome car ever ::) ::).
And ofcause he had a superior steering Wheel. 8 inch dia
Cadillac 59 tail lights glued to the stock ones
he tried to pass inspection with it and got 22 remarks ;D ;D
a record that was for many years

Im also cast parts now and then.
I learned to do it at a old foundry
in Finland in the 70s Before they
was to tear it down.
One of many things i regret i dont
took Pictures of during the years .
The whole floor in the foundry was
covered with about a feet of sand
so you just shoveled up some of the
floor :o. to make the molds.
They had made artilery grenades and bombs
for the Germans during the war
I still have a bunch of german detonators i picked
up from the junk heap behind the foundry
I wanted to bring some empty bomb shels with me
but my dad dont thought it was a good idea
to try to take them across the border ::) ::)

About the emblems my sister is a Jeweler
and some times she had made emblems
in silver or gold for cars
last time i Think it was for a Thunderbird
so if you want a real nice emblem
Contact a jeweler and get a price qoute
its not that expensive and you get a real
nice finnish on them

I actually kind of like the steering wheel.  Back in the 1970s when you bought a car like that, adding a custom steering wheel was one of the first modifications people would make.  I can understand the desire to keep the car stock, but that steering wheel looks good in there  :D

Yes a good old Superior 500 first thing you  bought and mounted
then some Slotmags or Cragar SS :D :D
If you had lived closer we could have swaped steering Wheels
beacuse i Think i have a stock one from a 65 i had
You can fix the cracks.
If you have Another old Wheel grind of some of it and
mix it with epoxi glue and fill in the cracks and after it dried
you can sand it smooth and paint the Wheel in the desired
colour

FE Technical Forum / Re: Anyone running a motor plate?
« on: November 04, 2013, 02:56:18 AM »
I have built some cars with motorplate
I both cut my own plate and bought
plates but i dont remember where i bought
them.
I prefere to use front plate and mid plate
but i have used front plate and trans mount
but then its important to use a rubber mount on the
trans. If you mount the trans solid it will crack the
trans if the chassie is flexing
Water pump bolts are enough, A Topfuel Engine
is mounted to the chassie with 4 hoseclamps :o :o
Its Dragracing chassies i have built so i dont know
what works in roadracing thats your car is built for
if i have understad things right

If there is a DIF cast on them they are cast at
Detroit Industrial Foundry and if you have a
C encircling an F(if my memory is right)
 they are cast in cleveland

Yes thats exactly what im talking about  and people buy fiberglass parts
and expect them to line up 100 % with out shiming and when they dont
they blame the fiberglass parts.
Yes there are many real bad fiberglass parts out there but not Always the case

3055
I know i have seen some old Engine (probably 1920s) with 4 valves
and "fork" rockers. I dont remember if it was car or
motorcycle engine

3056
If you have 2 layers hand laid parts they can take a prety good hit
and just flex but Heavy choppergun parts "explode" when they are hit
A friend of me have a fiberglass production Company
he use  some thing thats called Firete mat to reinforce hoods
so they keep the shape (you can walk on a hood laid on the floor)
The heat from the headers and turbos and so on can warp a hood
pretty much

3057
The thing with fiberglass...If you take a steel
body panel from another car it almost never
fits 100 %. Not even new oem parts fits
But with steel you can bend, it stretch it,
hammer it in shape and it stays there.
But fiberglass springs back .And if the fiberglass
parts have been sitting on a shelf it change shape
after a while. Dont buy it Before you are ready to
mount it and buy it fresh from the mold.
So dont kick your self for not getting the ebay fenders
probably been on a shelf for years.
Fiberglass parts have a bad rumor beacuse of this
Yes there is realy bad fiberglass parts out there
but some are better but not perfect
But almost no steel parts is 100%perfect
take a look at the amount of shims on some fenders :o
And with a frame built car things can realy missmatch
depending on how the frame/body is shimed
a perfect fitting door from one car can take a lot of
persuading with 2by 4,and portopower and shimming
to fit Another car.
If you try that with fiberglass you end up with  broken parts
