I too have tried steel shots in a ordinary cabinet and
its not working you have to gravity feed the blaster
with them
What i do with alu is i first blast it with that black sand
i Think it some crushed slag, To get the parts Clean.
With that you get a raw porous surface
Then i use new glasbeads to get a smother finish that dont
absorb dirt...its like the glasbeads polish and peen the Surface

The original 390 PI block from my Galaxie  is cast with the knobs for crossbolting but not machined
But i doubth there is any need for crossbolting a regular street Engine around 400 hp
I have Another block with the same casting number but the Engine is still asembled
intersting to see if it also has the knobs

An eight inch lowering block?? :o :o  He must have had the world's longest U-bolts...
HAHA yes he made them out of alltread :o :o :o
and the reason he changed springs was he had
problem with Wheel hop.And he multiplied them
with about 100 ;D ;D

Yes everything that move the axle
from the centre of the spring up or
down increase spring twist.
A guy i know bought some "shelby"
springs that raised the rear 8 inch :o
he put 8 inch lowering block in to lower
the rear ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D the nuts
on the ubolts almost touched the road.
Talk about Wheel hop :o :o :o :o
It  riped the glovbox door open ;D ;D ;D ;D

my 65 mustang had 14 layers of paint :o when i bought it
and it was 16 years old. Say it was not repainted the first
couple of years when it was new. Then it was repainted
one time a year ...like an old wooden boat ;D ;D

Sometimes if you heat the paint with a hot air gun
you are able to tear it of like a vinyl sticker right down
to the primer the more layers of paint the better.
Heat a spot and cut with a razorblade to get started
and just peal of and heat as you go
The paint strippers we have in Sweden nowadays
dont work on anything but waterbased paint
If you go with DA sander use as coarse paper as possible
(less heat build up)and keep the sander moving
till you are down to the primer then
go 80-120

I Think so to Bruce  :)

Yes  I saw a 4 cyl Hemi Engine with overhead cam
i Think  from 1903 for those that think Chrysler
"Invented" the Hemi
It was made by Star in USA i think.
Nimbus Motorcycles in Denmark built
almost a copy of it but smaller 500-600cc
or something like that. Cam is driven by a
vertical shaft that is also the generator
For those interested you can google Nimbus Motorcyklar
Interesting Engine in a uggly motorcycle
They were first with telescopic fork

I know i have seen some old Engine (probably 1920s) with 4 valves
and "fork" rockers. I dont remember if it was car or
motorcycle engine
[/quot

Suddenly today it hit me where i saw those fork rockers
it was on a Packard Merlin Engine
They got one Engine displayed at the Airport. I was waiting
for the wifes plane to arive so i had plenty of time to study it.
That versions of the Merlin Engines got excentric rocker-
shafts so when you rotate the shaft you change the rocker-
ratio
