Thanks for the schematic.. Does the input work with 12v or does it need to go through a resistor and drop to 5 or 6

I am sure a search would uncover the answer, but I am feeling lazy... How is the tach signal on my 68 Cougar 302 generated?  The last owner just had to go and put a GM 1 wire alternator on it. Now no tach and no electric gauges

Thanks guys.. WCCC is indeed a great resource.. I had an extra brake booster which they were happy to give me $125. for the core .. Sadly this one is not a good candidate for anything but a total restoration.. A Fla car that the owner failed to disclose was from Pa.

For the life of me why would a guy change back to that awkward looking 67 wheel.. I guess no accounting for people's bad taste.  I have been perusing West Coast Cougar site.. A bad purchasing decision lands me with a car that needs a lot of work

I just purchased a 68 Cougar XR7. It has a 67 steering wheel.. Someone change it or did early ones have the ugly wheel.. I have had good luck buying cars sight unseen.. My luck ran out on this one

Well final word on windows...  Rules are rules.. Talked to the tech at Dragway 42.. I did find out that the reason is not for driver safety so much as to keep the top and rear window from blowing off the car from air getting inside.. Course if I left the rear window out....   That did not fly either.. I have a call in to Rube Goldberg for a quick and dirty solution

Yes  ended up with a 4.21. stroke  Scary if you think about it.  lot of meat removed. Another reason to limit it to 5500

Well the "Official" by the book rule is you need all windows in place..  I asked about window nets and Ken claimed a track is living dangerously if they allow them in place of side windows..   In the end I guess it is up to the inspectors and track officials .. The events I have raced recently are pretty loosy goosey as far as the letter of the law.. I guess I will fab up some windows to be safe  Grrrrr

Final, because I sold all my MEL engines and parts to a guy in Boston, And I have moved on from my MEL phase lol.. I wish I would have had the dyno guy pull it down to 3000 to find peak toque..   It would probably run on pump gas.. I was surprised by the torque.. It makes approx 30 more horsepower vs a few yrs ago when I dynoed it with a flat tappet cam..

My final MEL build..
462 Block, offset ground stock crank. Scat rods, Ross Pistons, Performer RPM intake adapted from a 385 series.  Joe Craine ported heads,  215/177 valves.. Custom hydraulic roller from Comp..9.5 compression. Distributors are getting hard to find so I used an old Mallory dual point. Holley 800 carb.. I limited the RPM to 5500, since it was an all stock valve train.  Cranked out some real impressive torque. Sold the engine to a guy in Boston.. Kinda wish I had kept it
