Just as a follow up to this and now driving the car for a couple of years I can say that the chassis modifications are one of the best things I have ever done. For a car that's not really set up to handle the difference is phenomenal. Its turn in is vastly improved and it just sits where you put it. It has made it a pleasure to drive. So to anyone considering some chassis stiffening on their unibody. Do it! You won't be sorry.

Parked at work for International Fairlanes at Work Day....yes, its a thing, I've decreed it.

I was an apprentice at the railways here in Australia. You can imagine the size of the workshops. Big old sawtooth roof buildings with massive old steam hammers, presses etc. There were two holes in the roof of that building. One where the oxy bottle went out and another where it came back in.

Coils can come and go with heat. Check for spark when hot and not starting.

i wonder if some heat would of brought that back into shape

Doubt it. The fact that substantially more had to come off one side than the other and the witness's I was getting while milling indicate it was bowed, warped, twisted and generally a mess. The bottom much more so than the top.

Wanting to silence the IAC hiss on acceleration synonymous with Holley Snipers whilst wanting to retain an open spacer and not wanting to stack spacers, I bought a relatively cheap 4 hole spacer on ebay. At 1" thick the idea was to mill out the bottom 3rd to allow cross talk between plenums on my dual plane. Pulled it out of the pack, set it up in my mill upside down and it rocked a little. Odd. Took out, went over to my face plate and sure enough it rocked a little on the top surface. Turned it over and it rocked a MILE! Ended up milling the pockets and then milling the top .010 to get it as pictured (not too worried about the middle bit) and a whopping .040 off the bottom to flatten it. Had I not wanted to mill the pockets I may never have noticed this until it gave me grief. It just shows the ability of some companies to fuck up even the simplest part.

Only bonus is not having to drop and rework the trans.

The area of the tunnel where it hit is still US. The Aussie bit starts much further forward in front of the shifter area. Having said that my car has a lot of hand built stuff including engine mount brackets and at the time the trans cross member was an Aussie one too (now custom) and there is a slight difference. So not sure how it would all fit in an unmolested example. I still love the GV but if I was doing it again I would probably pull the trans and fit the shorter one.

What cam is it? 028 sounds rather large. Is this an all iron combo? My experience (not as much as many here) has been that with stock adjustables, iron heads and block the difference between hot and cold lash was zero. With iron block, alloy heads and Erson rockers they open up 007 when hot.

Have you verified true TDC on the balancer?

For an extra hundred bucks I would go the Terminator. I have heard better things about the Terminator than Sniper and I have a Sniper. Do a bit of reading on the Holley forums. https://forums.holley.com/

Make sure you flush the fuel lines real well and after a little running check the prefilter screen on the built in Sniper regulator. It is very small and fine and is easily blocked. I check mine now as a part of regular maintenance.
