FE Technical Forum / Re: Trickflow heads - gone for good?
« on: February 26, 2024, 12:01:28 AM »
I agree with Rory...We are still farther ahead that we were 30-40 years ago..When I built my 427 in the late 80's cam selection (solid) was slim. Intake choices were even slimmer.  So i found a C7-F intake .. Header choices were not good so I redrilled the heads and put CJ exhaust manifolds on. There was no ARP we used SPS rod bolts..When I bought my aluminum heads only Edelbrock had them..I bought empty 427 heads and had them built the way I wanted. They have been surpassed but i don't care..I built my engine for torque not HP...Its a street car...It sucks that the venders come and go..My advice is..grab it while you can...Cory

maybe woody the op can chime in and be more specific for what he wants?are you looking for an origianl 67 s code fastback to restore or hot rod?

That's what it sounds like...Dynacorn body's are stronger as they have the convert floors and rockers..They are easy to spot..I am in B.C Canada and a absolute junk 67/68 Fastback with no papers and a good roof is worth a easy 7-10K....

I have owned mine since 1977..I could not afford to by my car now...Cory
Picture taken almost two years ago..You can tell I am cleaning out the garage..Divorce I didn't want...Kept all my toy's tho..

Notched towers in my 67. All stock front suspension but all highly modified... Mustang II style front suspension in my mind is a pretty blanketed term. Most of the time it does not apply..  Cory

I agree...Its far to much of a gear spread. 1st or 5th will end up being useless. I am after the close ratio with the 2.87 1st and the .81 5th. Car currently has a W/R toploader so 1st is at least close to my 2.78.    Cory

It looks to me like that input shaft would be perfect. It looks to be the small block length so trimming the snout for a FE would be simple if needed. It is also a 10 spline so clutch disc change may not be required. Assuming it is 1 1/16 x10. The TKX is over kill for my 67 but thats OK......Yes its a lot of money....Cory

Cory, you must have missed the part number I supplied above. Here is a link to Modern Driveline.

I did miss that...I wonder which TKX it fits....

I have been searching and found no mention of a short shaft for the TKX. Brent shortened the shaft on my TKO 600 for use on the 427 with the stock bellhousing. Not sure if the TKX can be shortened. I am looking for another 5 spd for my 67 but am particular on my 5th gear. I want a .82 overdrive (same as the 68) not a .64..American Powertrain sell two versions of the TKX and they sell the one I want.I like the gear spread on the road race transmissions.
They also make a spacer/adapter for use on a stock bellhousing. The 67 has a scatter shield but the depth is stock. Not sure how the spacer will affect the shifter location but i can deal with that.....Cory

correct me if im wrong, but I dont think you can install a 351c intake in an FE engine? ,
and cant imagine anyone attempting to spend time and money to manufacture such.

Here is a pic of one of Jays adapters on my 65 427.......PSE was Paul Bedoin (sp) and i think that himself and Ford Power Parts did not got along so i doubt they would sell PSE products of any kind.....Cory

I have never ran a electric fan as I prefer mechanical stuff..My 68 has a 427 in it and i run a stock clutch fan.I have the stock rad as well.Car has never got hotter than 200 and that was sitting in a line up to a car show...The key to the whole system is the shroud and the depth of your fan in the shroud. To deep or to shallow and you kill the purpose of the shroud.....JMO...Cory

Alot of people are buying Toyota Prius electric assist and figureing things out on their own.Due to a divorce non of my equipment is running.I went with EPAS as they have a kit for my car and the system comes with a potentiometer to dial the system up or down.Generally I would make all my own parts.
