I haven't been in a couple of years, but I did notice the last few years the stuff was getting thin. Also Lot of off categories were not automotive.  Still a good time though.

I have dual side mirrors on my 63. They loosen up and I just tighten them, I`m thinking of using some lock tight but haven't got around to it. Are they  loose at the mirror head or at the base mount?

I made a set for one of my motors, it took a while to do but they all fit just fine. It also helped that I have a stationary disc sander to play with. The big thing was to sneak up on the gap measurement. A mike is a must, as well as an inside snap gauge.

I bought the Mastercool  kit and played with it before I actually made permanent lines. I love it. Have done dozens of lines and no problems yet. I have tried it on SST but the results weren't the best. You got to shop for good SST brake line. Alot of cheap SST on the market. The Mastercool is worth the price and has paid for itself.

FE Technical Forum / Question on carb price
« on: March 29, 2023, 05:20:03 AM »
This may not be the place to ask, I got a friend that purchased a 750 Holley double pumper carb that appears to be NOS, in a bunch of a parts lot. It appears unused and has no box, It has some shelf ware but looks dull. I`m wondering what it might be worth? He said to make a reasonable offer. Any Ideas?

I don`t think it makes much difference. I have run the drives both ways and never had any problems. This is on both 427s and 390s.

My dad always said that when you rebuild something do it right or don`t do it at all. Not removing that shield was always a 1st priority in a rebuild or a manifold swap.

Royce, have you ever seen the amount of waste a plasma cutter generates? At the price of SST and AL you would not get a decent payback on the parts you're making. The valve cover rails would generate alot of waste unless you could combine another part at the same time to use up the inner blanks that would result. I go through this at my shop.

I know that when ever I have my 56 F100 out at a cruise and the hood is up, I get a lot of questions about them. let it idle and people do a double take when they see it. I have to rev it a little to show the oil splash. The other thing have I on it is a clear cover on the dual carb Setup. People are shocked when they see it. I really would like to find a clear distributor cap for a stock  dist or a Mallory dist.  So far no color change in the covers. I still have to put the light kit in them. Whenever Jay makes more clear covers for the FE I will be on the list.

What kind of money are you looking for rod, mains and cam Brgs.  Also a couple gasket sets.

FE Technical Forum / Re: Mini starter question
« on: December 12, 2022, 12:44:48 PM »
I bought a RobMc  starter yrs ago for my 427 Galaxie.  Most of the rebuilds couldn`t take the strain. They were realy helpful when I couldn't get the starter to engage right. The sent me a correct shim pack to stop the binding and all was well. My63 has factory long cast iron manifolds so there is a lot of heatsoak when you shut it off. The starter spun the motor over with no problems. I will be buying another in the near future. Well worth the money.
