Another happy customer. These are very well made, and thank you for jumping through all the hoops to make them available.

Looking good! What's the driveline going to be?

I'm starting another one, too. The internet makes it feel like they're everywhere, but outside of the Ford races/reunions I've been to, I've seen exactly 3 teardrop cars in person in my entire life, and they were all the ones I owned.

Having a panic moment here, because my last old can is probably dried up. Is Permatex 80065 even the same product as the old spray tack? But yeah, love that stuff.

edit: I see. The new number supersedes #99M. The oldold cans were 99G. Whatever.

The one you've linked to, however, is a straight-up scam.

This chunk of extra material has apparently gone undetected for over 50 years in the #5 runner of a 289 intake. It's about the size of a cigarette butt, and you can't see it from either end.  ;D

This is not an endorsement for cheap imported endoscopes from Amazon because I hate that, but I guess it sort of is.

The Wilwood setup ended up shaving just 1.6 pounds total from the 64 Fairlane drum brakes, according to the average of 3 measurements on an imported digital bathroom scale. I haven't checked the late 60s Ford disc setup, but I figure it's a few pounds heavier yet.

Not enough to make a real difference for any of them, but I was curious.

Sorry if it's been mentioned, but is this the same one Jegs is selling? https://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/513094/10002/-1

I was amazed how much lighter it is than the factory disc setup on my 68 Torino that I originally planned to replace. I haven't actually weighed the parts, but the calipers and brackets are so light it's feels a bit scary somehow. The rotors are a bit thinner/narrower than Ford also, I think.

I'll weight everything as I replace the drum setup on the 64 for comparison, probably next week.

I've used the Maverick parts on a few projects over the years and they've been perfect.

I like the look of the Strange rear disc setup, and this (64 Fairlane) will probably get those eventually.

Perfect, thank you both. Looks likely to work out.

Non-FE Discussion Forum / Wilwood front discs with Ford dual master?
« on: December 14, 2022, 09:17:03 AM »
I have a Wilwood classic front disc kit (140-13476, the economy one) that got shelved on an earlier project.

Has anyone paired these with the 1970s Ford dual master cylinder (Maverick etc, manual front disc / rear drums) or know if the volume would be compatible?

It just occurred to me that (if I don't require an aftermarket master) might have the parts here to retire another single pot master cylinder.

I know it's as easy as a call to Wilwood, but I'd feel better hearing from someone who has stepped on the pedal afterward. Plus my FE project is dragging and I want to look alive here.  ;D

I like a button AND wot switch as mentioned above, and yes, hold the button through shifts and just lift the throttle a little.

100 hp also brings a lot of torque. I don't remember what brand of long-style pressure plate I was using with my first kit, but 125hp hit would slip the clutch if the rpms were too low. It's a lot of fun to hit it in the mid-range on the street, but make sure the clutch is up to the extra work.

Looks like you've got it covered, but here's another view. This was original in my '66 390/C6 and went right into a '68 FE/C6. (It also temporarily spent time under a 302/C4)

No factory lightweights allowed, so it doesn't seem like there'd be a spot anywhere for a HR.

Properly torqued, these can be filed under "whatever blows your skirt up."
