FE Technical Forum / Thermostat for 390 FE
« on: May 06, 2018, 07:37:46 PM »
67 390 FE. I cannot seem to locate a thermostat with a 2 1-2" flange. I can only find 2 1/8". Tried most of the major parts as well as mustang sites. Any recommendations?

67 Mustang, 390,GT heads (C7AE-A) I am ready to place the heads back on the block and I noticed that one end of the heads has 2 tapped holes. I am thinking that these are for mounting accessories? Should they both be facing the front of the engine or is one supposed to face the rear? Driver side or passenger side. I did not tear the engine down so, I have no clue!

I am installing FEL-PRO head gaskets on '67 GT heads. I noticed that the front water jacket passage is blocked (no cut out in the gasket) on both sides. Is this correct?
The gaskets that were removed had the cut outs on front and rear on both sides. I am using new FEL-PRO'S #1020.

I want to "clay" my FE to check for valve train interferences. Since I am running hydraulic lifters and non adjustable stock rockers, I need to change out the springs so I am not compressing the lifter. What do I use and where  do I get them?

I am building a 390 Fe motor with Edelbrock cam and lifters. Using stock rocker arms. My problem is the lifters use a 5/16" ball and the rockers use a 3/8" ball.
No one seems to have one listed. Any suggestions?

FE Technical Forum / Camshaft Spacer
« on: July 07, 2017, 09:05:00 PM »
67 390 FE. Replacement block of 74 vintage. Is there supposed to be a split spacer (6265) that mounts between the camshaft and the camshaft sprocket? If so where can one be found? In the same area just above the thrust plate, there is a tapped hole  in the end of the main oil channel. This should be plugged, correct?
Thanks in advance
