I hope to make the Meltdown Drags and possibly the Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green.

     afx1964,
I have an original '64 only Comet radio delete if you are interested. It came from an A/FX car loooong ago.
Thanks but I was able to find one early in the build.

Close..............12 years ago

That is the original car. At that point it could have been owned by a couple of different people. When Richard Ellis bought it from Reggie Jackson it had the white wheels on it, which it never came with and Ellis had them redone in black. The way that I have mine lettered is the way it was raced in 64.

Thanks for the comments about the car. I can hardly believe it but I started this project ten years ago this week with an empty shell. Admittedly I stopped a few times along the way and I affectionately call this my devil car as most things didn't go easily.  I was hoping to copy the original as closely as I could. I think I got pretty close. It has the glass front end, doors and deck lid along with plastic side windows. It seemed like too much trouble to do the back glass for a street car to me. Blair Patrick put the Highriser together for me with a bunch of parts I sent him along with some of his magic. On the dyno it made 777 HP and 712 TQ. That aside it is a thrill when you roll away from a stop sign and hammer it. Nine inch strange center section, truetrac with 457 gears and a top loader. It has the original a/fx style suspension on 9 inch pie crusts so traction isn't so hot. The upside is that it runs cool when I've had it out but you are not going to move around town without being heard nor would I want to drive it for much distance.  It's not done over the top as my goal was to look old school. The interior was some nos parts some repop and some redone original stuff. I did add the roll bar and disc brakes on the front for safety though. My wife just shakes her head at the car and walks away while my 3 year old granddaughter is fascinated with it.

I recently finished a long term project that I started because my dad raced the original car in 64. I was
always in awe of the car even though I was only 11. Many thanks to Blair Patrick for the engine build.
I'm new to this posting thing so I hope it works.
