Ive thought about it on and off for 10 years now, only thing i can think of is it gives the air/fuel that much longer to properly mix before any disturbances in its path to combustion chamber were encountered.

FE Technical Forum / 67 c6 leaking out of band adjustment bolt?
« on: August 10, 2018, 09:53:33 PM »
Noticed a couple drips of tranny fluid on my garage floor the other day. Tracked it down to being the band adjustnent bolt.  Ive never had this issue with a c6 before, what could this be caused by? Is it a problem deeper in the trans or just simply a bad locknut or adjustment bolt?

Jay,
I seen that time warp is #34 , not that I'm whining, but I have that I'm 34, or with the test fit due to my booster does that bump me off till we know? I'm not complaining or upset,  just curious to know where I fall is all!! Thanks for the updates!

FE Technical Forum / Re: Overheating & Aluminium Heads
« on: April 12, 2018, 08:55:50 PM »
I agree with fordman, excessive overheating would only warp the heads, coolant in oil is the only way to tell without pulling heads and using machinists straight edge with a set of feeler gauges I believe.

There is not a "required" oil for a roller cam break in, I have a 463 with solid roller, started it fresh with valvoline vr1 20w 50, and have used it ever since! I've been told two different things, not on this site, but that high zinc formulas is needed and also that it is not needed.  I always run the vr1 because it's high zinc and it's what the cam grinder told me to use because of the zinc. As far as the right oil for bearing clearance, the tighter the clearance the better a thinner oil would flow, and with a larger clearance a heavier oil will work.  You could throw a bottle of zinc additive in with the vr1 for s&g's!!! Good luck getting that badmofo on the road again!!!

Back to the original question for me! I wish I knew as much about cams as some of you guys!  But my 463 is a solid roller, and I love it, I'm young, so I don't mind adjusting lash 3-4 times a year, I actually enjoy it. I also love the "sewing machine" sound at about 3500 rpm cruising down the highway. And at gas stations when I pull in to grab a red bull, people ask "what's wrong with your car, why does it sound like that. I tell them "solid roller", and they look at me like a deer in the headlights.

Check out cam research group (CRG) in Denver Colorado. They specialize in Ford cams. They custom ground one for my 463 stroker, it's a solid roller.

So I hooked the pvc back up, so far so good! Lesson learned there! I am still unsure where it was coming from. Probably everywhere!

Turbohunter,  I guess that I figured I didn't need that extra hot oily mist crap going back into the combustion chamber, maybe I'm way off base, Im no expert by any stretch (Obviously if it ends up being ghe cause of leak). And if I drive it 5 miles that's a long drive for me, since it's a solid roller, I try to keep it limited to taking downtown (1/2 mile one way) uncapped headers, piss off all the hippies, and head home.  Once I get some more time off work I definitely plan on investigating all the things mentioned, thanks again to everyone for there Suggestions! I've learned so much off this forum!  ;D

Cammerfe that's what my fears have been, but with oil on top I kinda dismissed that, but now that there is a case of that happening, I will investigate. And thanks Barry I will definitely pull one by one and and a little. THANKS GUYS!!! I will report back with my findings, this has been driving me nuts!

It is an auto, but it's definitely oil. The oil is setting on top of intake, back by the bellhousing.  It builds up  to the point of dripping off backside of intake, rolling down bellhousing, and drips onto header, causing the smoking.  I will clean it up, and after another 5 mile drive it's back to its same amount.  I removed the pcv a couple months ago and shortly after developed this problem.  Could it be building so much pressure it's pushing it out of somewhere Unusual?  On the Victor 427 intake what is the raised portion on the back closest to number 4 with a two bolt removable cover on it all About? That's the only other thing I can think of, also the only thing I haven't messed witj ::)! I used the same intake bolts, after the rebuild, it didn't have this problem before.  But I will pull and check, how long should they be, or is it build specific with milling, decking, gasket choice Etc?
