Mike, not sure what you have in it for ignition, but I'd check out the power to that to eliminate as an issue. Our drag car had all the symptoms of a fuel delivery issue, chased it for weeks and we were kind of stumped. Just turned out to be an MSD box that had bad power run to it and it was bugging out. Really frustrating

Mike, that’s the 2step button. (Per NHRA stocker rules) The line lock is on top of the shifter, it can be anywhere convenient.
Did your wiring on the brake pedal go to the line lock or was it just hanging?

Ahhh, got it. This makes much more sense. Yes when we got the car the wiring was just dangling. I'm glad I asked.

Mike, I see that you put the line lock button on the brake pedal. Our car we got from Richie was set up like that as well. I've been scratching my head wondering why that's a benefit over having the button on the shifter or something like that.

I left the button there and figured we'd try it.

We have 2 sets. One is this set, completely untouched, the other set was already run on something and has a mild port job. We were intending on listing them on the "garage sale" page on our website but haven't gotten around to it.

Do you have the headers coated with anything? All the sets of REF's that I have done have been Jet-Hot coated. The coating leaves a bit of white residue inside the pipes and makes them fit very tight. When I did mock-up I could slide that collector on, after coating I had to use a rubber mallet to get the collector on.

It's been a bit since I've put much effort into the race car. I decided a few weeks ago to complete an engine. I had been waiting on our new head castings to come out and put on this short block, but made the choice to put a normal set of edelbrocks on it and will switch them out when our castings are here.

Here's some of the progress as of recent.
-Engine is together, waiting on a torque converter now, then I can drop it in.
-Rear leaf sliders are installed
-trans brake is figured out

I don't have any good videos, but we have the same setup on the '67 Mustang. REF's, X-pipe. It's nothing like you're describing. Definitely louder than stock, but the noise level isn't much different than when the car had FPA tri-y headers on it and an H-pipe.

I'm not certain what mufflers these are. We asked the exhaust shop to make it sound acceptable and streetable and this is what he chose.

Thanks, Thor. The paint is Duplicolor cast coat aluminum # DE1650. I was using Rustoleum "professional" aluminum enamel before, but it started getting very inconsistent. One can would be a nice aluminum color and the next would look like a real bright silver like the fake chrome spray paint. I kept going back to the store to get some more, but cans were more "chrome" than aluminum, so I gave up on that color. This was the first I've used this color, but it isn't too bad looking.

Ever tried this? I've always used the cast-blast for cast iron look and alumi-blast for intake manifolds.

You're a bonafide Youtuber now Brent! Don't post a video and the fans let you hear about it!

I watch 'em. I'm the one outlier in your stats. Although maybe I'm not that young anymore? 35.

Man that sounds like a fun race to be on the "Sick Ward". I don't know if I'll be able to do it this year because it's looking like I might be headed to Tulsa for work for a while..... BUT that means I could stop by the Tulsa race day.

Curious if anybody has more pictures or any history on this car? I have only ever found 4 pictures of this particular car, it must not have run many events. This is the best photo I can find of it.

Thanks, Mike.  If it were easy, everyone would be doing it.  Just to clarify my memory but I seem to recall that your TP head will fit a 428 bore without modifications.  Are you still moving in that direction?

Yes sir, that's the design criteria. MR head to fit on bores as small as 4.08" and TP head to fit on bores as small as 4.16".

I'm waiting to see what the Brunson TP head does.  Hopefully that one will actually get poured and in sufficient volume to make our community flush with product.

We continue to make progress. I'd hate to update everybody every step of the way, because to us the hurdles we cross feel like big accomplishments, but from the outside looking in they probably seem trivial and slow. I figured next time John Bamber or I update everybody it would sound more like "hey we have the castings, this is what they look like, and they'll be available on the website xxx date."
