I remember seeing this car at the FERR.  Looked very sharp with the styled steel wheels and Silver Frost paint, I thought.  I think your co-pilot borrowed my air pressure gauge.  I had the Clearwater Aqua wagon.  I did'nt get to see your car make a pass, and did not realize it ran so good.  Beaver is usually a little slower track than ATCO and Cecil County, or even Island.

A little more incentive for your project. Maybe you have seen this one, although it is rather recent.  Kind of neat, the unique combinations  the Shelbys have.

Should be a fun ride.  What color "Cobra Jet" lettering are you using on the White body?  I can't quite tell with the decals still wrapped.

I think this post is a great idea and can be really informative.  Figured I would add a couple pictures to help keep it going. I got these Kustom brand headers years ago from the a member on the 428Cobrajet forum and they have been sitting on a shelf for a while. I was told they don't interfere with the clutch linkage on 69-70 CJ Mustangs.  I still plan to use them some day,  so we shall see.

Calvert mono leaf springs in the back would save some weight.  Cut the death out of the front coil spring covers in the fenderwell so they are just a skeleton.  Ditch the sway bar, or the skinniest one available if you are going straight line.  Aluminum radiator, as mentioned. I'm guessing the heater is already gone.

I take it you have already ditched the factory upper shock mount for a flat plate? That will get you a little more front end travel.

I agree. Got to get the front end a little more loosey goosey.  Ran almost the same mph as the White Fairlane, so it is making good power.

Should be okay if you protect it from stones and don't drive it in the rain, I would think.  We did a similiar idea, but mounted it on the inside of the trunk drop off with a hole in the drop off. Just a little more protected.

If it means anything, I purchased and drag raced a new '67 Fairlane 2dr sedan 427 in 1967. My car was a heater, clock and radio delete which would explain my recognition of your dash panel. There are only subtle differences between the '66 and '67 dash panels but yours is a desirable piece for the discerning buyer in need. Have you considered one of the pre-made, race specific switch panels available from Summit or Jegs; there are several variations, one of which, should cover your needs?

SSdyno,
Would you have any pics of your old '67 Fairlane drag car you could post? I'm always interested in early photos of these cars. Was your car lettered?  Which dealership sold it?

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Marc,
It would be best not to modify that radio delete cluster.  Either put it on a shelf for a restoration, or use it but find a way to run your gauges and electronics that does not compromise that cluster. They have gotten crazy price wise these days, and yours looks in nice shape.  Even clusters for parts guys want a lot of money for. JMO.

Your Comet is sharp!  Great color combination, too.

You gotta keep digging. Start by determining what the “trash” in your filter consists of.
Is it magnetic? What color is it? What size are the particles? Are they all the same size/color?

Yep, gonna monitor that, too. Have a new filter on it, and will cut that open after the motor restarts and I recheck the lash.  Original trash from the first filter dissection were non-magnetic, tiny flecks that looked like aluminum foil. There was one small "chip" of steel/iron that had some shine to it.  Finally, some small pieces of what looked like gasket material, or possibly silicone sealer?
