I always start with jetting the way that Holley built them then see what the combo wants for the fine-tuning. Holley typically built them pretty close to how much fuel is needed for how much air they will pass

If it turns out to be an oil feed hole from the block into the head, a pressed-in thin-wall tube in the block hole could be done without block teardown.

KS
That must be the repair that I've heard of using a pushrod with the ends cut off pushed into the oil passage thats needs repair ?

Any of the piston manufacturing people will make what you want, you just have to tell them what you want
Size, dome or dish, how big, pin size and length ring package that you want to run etc.

Is that Pushrod cup the correct size ?
Might just be the pic and shadows but it looks large for that adjuster ball end

I was always told that the higher temp thermostats and running temps were for emissions reasons and an effort to increase gas mileage. The automakers did start using them it the mid 70's when all of the emissions stuff started getting crazy.
For me, the old stuff gets 160°, newer whatever lets the computer think that it's warmed up

Well, it's a C8AX-D cam...probably not the cam we need for a 428 PI, C-6 highway patrol car :)
Mmmmm......No don't think thats the cam that you want for that application 😉
Love it in my Mustang though 😁

« on: April 18, 2023, 12:24:20 PM »
Torque the mains back up without the seal and see if the crank turns ok. If its fine then maybe try a two piece seal just to see, there cheap enough to try.

Cant help with the parts, but why the change ? with all of the advancements that have been made in the last dozen years it's pretty much a level playing field with any of the three power wise. But the roots unit will always get the most attention :)

Did it many years ago with a stock 428 cj cam, ran really well for many years
But I'm sure that does fall into that slow ramp category

If I remember correctly the ford dual point distributor used a set of points that are just like points out of a six-cylinder only reversed. Is that what your working with ?

I've got the M/T drag radials on the mustang and can say that they work very well on the street, just don't expect a lot of mileage out of them as they are very soft

Not disputing that your trans was originally from a small block car, just that a lot of people think small input =orig small block trans. And that the 390 toploaders could account for a lot of "mine fit fine"
Also like you said no telling what got changed over the years 🙂
