I don't know about distributors that well but Jeff said something to the effect that having the advance adjustment under the plate makes it difficult to adjust and is time consuming.

I've got a very old Lakewood here that looks like it's got a homemade block plate.
Bad thing is I'm over 1500 miles away and it is heavy and bulky.
Shipping would most likely exceed the benefit of a modern QuickTime.

Paul: I've got an almost new set but one VC has some pitting on the top. Most likely it was dripped on with something like battery acid. It does have the breather holes.
I do have a new set of Chrome Pents without the breather holes. I'd only let one or the other set go.
If you'd like I'll post some pictures of the set with breather holes. I want to keep one set of each style of every FE VC ever made.

Yes, I do hold onto cars for long periods of time
Uncle's (RIP) 1959 BMW Isetta. He bought it in 1960 with the engine with one rod thru the block repair and another hole in the block from a 2nd rod.
Car was last driven in 1959 Michigan plates and has been inside ever since.

Bought my 1960 Vette in 1977 for $2400 as a basket case but with all new stainless and an Al Knock interior. Still sitting as I bought it. 427 FE stroker is being built.

Bought and have stored a restored 1931 A roadster body since 1974. Still hanging in the shop rafters. FE is ready for that.

Finally I'm now working on my 1948 Lincoln Continental with a 390 and 9" installed. getting ready for the firewall fab and complete wiring.

The Caliente would have cost more than I was willing to spend and I'd rather put the funds into my other project cars.

OK it's been a few weeks but i finally got to the intake. What I thought was a match of the Stromberg WW 4 bolt mounting to 2 of the 3 bolt bases was not what I thought.
The 4 bolt bases are just a bit farther apart so I had to drill 2 of the holes from 3/8 to 13/32. I drilled 2 holes of the spacers and the carb bases. The rear 2 holes will have to be drilled and tapped to 5/16. Next issue was the throttle arms for the linkage hit the VC on one bank of the carbs so I rotated one bank so all the throttle linkage is on the inside. I'll just fab a bell crank that has both a push and pull config.
Finally the Stromberg WW's have a much larger size of throttle blades and they hit the intake, the 1" spacers take care of that and I can blend in the mis-match by grinding a bit of the intake. There is a lot of aluminum there so I won't find a problem.

That box does not look correct. 3.98 stroke and 4.08 is only +030. Not a 390 +040 piston if that correct. Stroke 3.78?
