FE Technical Forum / crankshaft pilot bushing
« on: April 23, 2018, 07:34:27 AM »
Got my engine together and opened my clutch kit box and there are three pilot bushings. The big bushing is the only one that fits crank, crank is aftermarket steel crank. Is this the right one to use, none of the three other bushings fit. The big one fits in crank closest to trans, it to big to go in smaller forward crank holes. This may sound like dumb question but haven't put a standard trans behind an FE since the eighties and never with aftermarket crank so want to make sure i get it right.

FE Technical Forum / Intake Gaskets

Have a bbm iron block, BBM aluminum heads, Blue thunder intake, when I put intake on with gaskets sitting in place, I can get a .035 feeler gauge between heads and intake on both sides. Question is is this normal? I tightened intake down and it closed gap that I can see, does intake and heads come together that much with torquing intake?

I have a cam that was brand new but stored for a couple years, its a hyd. roller it has a spot of rust on one journal and one lobe. The spots are not big should I clean it and use it? Cam was expensive and stored properly, never had a new one come up with rust.

FE Technical Forum / hyd roller cam
« on: December 08, 2015, 10:31:48 AM »
have a question maybe someone here can answer. Have a motor I am going to build for my new cobra. 482 stroker that I have all parts for, bbm block, bbm heads, two four intake. Bought a hyd roller cam that is big I think 600 lift could be wrong on that, but I do remember its a very large cam. Had heads put together with springs and vales but now am thinking of going to a smaller cam. the cam was going to put the engine in the 550 hp range. I am thinking I am going to want around 450 with good street manners. Can I use the same springs and any recommendations on a hyd roller cam. P.S. Can't get to cam its in storage in colorado I'm in Italy for another year and a half other wise I would give exact specs.
