Hey Drew...interested in getting you to build me a 735 + vac sec carb for my mild mannered 427..Can be a Ford carb like a C9AF-U service unit or a first gen 3310.(dont care)..Must have a dual inlet on the primary bowl as I run the stock 427 fuel filter..I do have a gen 1 3310 complete but it is missing its base plate..I have other 3310's (complete)was well...Do you have any carbs or primary float bowls..I just used my float bowl on another project only to find out it may be a issue to find another ....Car has 3 pedals.......Cory

This car has been talked about here before. Its a 67 R code custom..Its up in BC here and is being put back on the road..They couldnt find a 427 so it has a 390 in it..They are having some problems which i will get into later...The question is what did Ford put in this car for exhaust manifolds...Did it come with those special Fairlane manifolds.

FE Technical Forum / Rocker shafts
« on: January 01, 2021, 10:45:12 PM »
Going to be putting together a rather stock 390 for a loaded 68 Cougar GT.Its going to keep the stock manifolds, air pump(US car),air cleaner and will have a edelbrock performer on it..The RPM version apparantly is too high for the s pipe and air cleaner to hood clearance...

I am going to put a yet to be picked hyd roller cam in it..Are the stock rocker shafts up to the spring pressure ???.Its getting the stock PBF covers so end stands are out...I have a assortment of HD shafts....I would like to find the std wall thickness for oem shafts and compare it what i have.

Thanks...Cory

Non-FE Discussion Forum / Holley acc pump
« on: November 27, 2020, 08:27:11 PM »
Doing some work on my little 67 (hyd roller 289)...I have a 3310-11 carb on it...I have a bad flat spot right away..Last year i changed the shooter from a 25 to a 31 and put the cam on #2..Not much of a difference...Weather does not permit me to road test it but I am going over what I did..Today i noticed it has a green cam...Thats pretty big ..I have lots of Holley books going back to the 80's..No where can i find reference to what color cams the 3310 came with..Shooters yes but not cams..Thinking the big cam and the shooter are a little much..I have a few other 3310's and i checked them. One has a brown cam and one has a white..I found a little bit of free play in the linkage but it was very little.

Does any one have a newer 3310 they can check the cam color on...Or any 3310...Thinking the green cam is wrong (i didnt put it in) and I need to go back and start over..

Non-FE Discussion Forum / TKO 600 weirdness....Problem found
« on: September 15, 2020, 09:01:53 PM »
I bought a TKO-600 from Brent 5 years ago and have finally installed it..Two years ago I was playing with it on the floor (new shifter) and noticed neutral wasn't right.Rear yoke was very hard to turn..I played around with it and everything was fine..I wrote it off to the trans being bone dry..I installed it today and shifter was in 2nd or 4th and it has done it again..As I had to cut the floors I pulled the covers and all 3 rails look correct and inline. You can barely turn the yoke with 2 hands and reverse gear is the only one the shifter will engage...My friend is coming back with the trans jack and out it comes.I am guessing something is stuck or dry....I cant see donw the front cover as my dash is in the way so I don't have a choice...

I will get him to spin the yoke as I play with the shifter before it comes out.....Any one have some ideas..???????

Non-FE Discussion Forum / not a call you want
« on: July 19, 2020, 09:09:17 PM »
Got a call at 9pm on sat night. The shop where I keep my 67 is on fire. Its a concrete building with a wood roof.I got up there in 5 minutes and the building is engulfed in flames.Fire started in the wall panel, lit the 71 econoline up and it just got worse from there. Then the LNG line let go for the furnace..We now have a very hot fire.I was already told everything in the shop was destroyed.I went home thinking I just lost a car.

I'll keep the story short....What they didn't know is the shop has another concrete wall 2/3 of the way across..My 67 and a 2004 Corvette were on the other side of the partition..Roof over the other side was already on the floor and it got so hot it was blowing holes out of the wall. They thought it was a meth lab at first because it was so hot..

My car and the Corvette were actually fine...I didn't find this out till late sunday. It looks like enough water got in to keep them safe from the heat.My decals didn't even lift..My car cover has some holes in it from stuff coming down from the roof. The car was wet so no real damage..Got the car home and Mary cleaned it up and we took it out for a drive....Cant believe my luck.

Cody...the owner of the building managed to pull a wake board boat out by hand but that was it.The toxic fumes got to him and he spent a few hours in the hospital but he is ok.........You can see the door on the right of the pic..

The rear suspension on my 68 427 car..Had the leafs back out for some changes on the ride height.May still need some lowering blocks. You will notice I have staggered shocks. Its a Sanco kit I put in.Rear shock plates are aluminum (my work).Rear housing is shortened to 65/66 specs.N-Case with 31 sp moser axels.Four piston willwoods,17x8 (I couldn't get 16's) Mini lites I had made in Calif.Tires are 275/40/17 and are completely tucked in..Those are real Koni's as well..

My 67 also has the shortened rear housing but 28 spline. It also wears 275's on 15x8 torque thrusts..Both cars run M/T tires but different type..I didn't touch the wheel wells or frame on either car.....Cory

finally got the 427 back into the 68..Huge rotisserie job on the car.
Engine is a 65 427 that's .017 over.Bottom end is still std.Engine was rebuilt in 88 when I first installed it.Now has Edelbrock 427 heads that I switched to 16 bolt exhaust and installed stock sized 427 valves..
Too much work to sit here and type out..Owned the car since 77.
Car has 3 pedals...

FE Technical Forum / valve covers
« on: March 27, 2020, 07:46:13 PM »
Jay..(or any one who knows)..do your valve covers use the same thread size fittings as the Holman Moody covers (cast by Blue Thunder).I am in search of a screw in plug/blank and Lee Holman tells me he has them on order but it could be a while. He is waiting for valve covers as well...

FE Technical Forum / Edelbrock F-427
« on: April 04, 2019, 11:33:41 PM »
Going through the paces of removing the Edelbrock dual quads off the 66 fastback with the CJ in it.Owner changed his mind and I was more than happy to yank it all out.I am putting a old school F-427 on it.I pulled Jays book out and read up on the manifold.Jays write up hinted that a port match was in order so off to the shop to do some measuring...
Jays 2 manifolds had 1.06 x 2.05 ports and no provision for a oil filler.Visible bottle neck near the port exit..
My manifold is unported and has 1.18-1.20 x 2.05 ports and has a provision for a oil tube. Also no signs of a bottle neck.
Going by the pictures the manifolds appears to be the same..

One early, one late, two different foundries,revisions......who knows but certainly 2 different versions of the same manifold...

FE Technical Forum / rocker shaft assembly
« on: November 26, 2018, 11:45:13 PM »
Getting ready to put the(new) heads (Edel)  on the 427.Now this is a street engine and doesn't see high rpm very often.Cam is a old Comp 270S...I have all Harland Sharp stuff for the rocker assemblies..My question is...Should I spend the time fitting the solid rocker spacers or are springs good enough for my application.I would imagine I would be lucky to put 500 miles a year on the car...
I used springs when I put the engine in circa 1988 and never had a problem.
I don't mind spending the time fitting them just not sure if I need to...

Non-FE Discussion Forum / question for Jay or other elec techs...
« on: November 04, 2018, 08:43:05 PM »
I have a new Autometer Tach #6806 on my Cummins 12Valve in the Grizzly. This is a crank trigger tach...
The tach reads very close at idle speed and just gets worse from there.Does not go over 1500 rpm .Its just plain lazy...
I have contacted the techs at Autometer but they have stopped answering me...

So...first round I had four posts in the balancer 1/4x1/4..Tach read as it does now..Autometer said to change it to 4 machined slots.I milled (4) .500 wide x .250 slots in the balancer...This made it worse.I then put .500 keystock in the slots and this gave me .250 high towers.Tach is now back to its normal bad behavior.

I then replaced the crank sensor and this did not help...I pulled the dash apart today to see if I somehow crossed the two sensor wires when I spliced them together but I have them correct...

Is one of the wires on the sensor a ground ???

Anyone have any ideas...This tach is north of $400 US and has not worked since day one...
