Member Projects / 1967 Falcon with Jay's Adapter
« on: February 17, 2017, 05:31:52 PM »
Here is my 1967 Falcon with Jay's adapter. The motor is 416 inches with a set of Edelbrock 1404 500cfm carbs. I have a toploader and a 9 inch in it. A friend of mine that is a retired machinist from Scott Paper did the linkage fabrication and some other stuff on it. So far I've taken it up to Lake George and some local events. There is plenty to do but it goes good and straight and is fairly quick.  Jay's adapter takes the project to the next level. Thanks Jay.

Private Classifieds / RUG-S Toploader
« on: November 05, 2015, 01:34:04 PM »
RUG-S Toploader For Sale
This transmission is in excellent overall condition. It has been stored away for the last 20 years.  The RUG-S Toploader was used on a number of Hi- Performance Ford cars including the 1967/8 Shelby GT500 and 1968.5 CJ Mustang. However a more significant point may be that the RUG-S transmission (code5) was installed on the first 50 “135” VIN CJ Mustangs. The transmissions were stamped on the front right corner of the main case with the last 6 digits of the VIN found on the car. For example: unit 8F02R135019 would have been stamped 135019. The transmission I have for sale is stamped 135019. This car (8F02R135019) was delivered to Tasca Ford in East Providence R.I. The car apparently still exists somewhere as it was a no sale at the Mecum Auction in Kissimmee in 2013. I have spoken with two current owners of “135” CJ Mustangs to verify the stamping location of the partial VIN found on the transmission, so I am fairly sure my information is accurate.  The transmission is in excellent working order but is sold as is. I also have the Hurst shifter unit, mounting plate, rods, and hardware that came with the transmission when I got it. Those parts are included in this sale.  It is available for inspection in Southeastern, CT. at your convenience. For any further information, pictures, or clarification about this transmission call or text Jim at 8six0 70five-11eight0. The transmission will be shipped in a new shipping container designed for shipping toploaders with a deposit which will be refunded when the container is returned. Shipping cost is the responsibility of the buyer.
The price for the transmission and shifter is $4000.00

FE Technical Forum / Motor Mounts
« on: August 24, 2015, 07:43:59 AM »

Need a little help figuring out this mounting problem. I have a 1964 block with the vertical mounting bosses. I want to put it into a 1967 Fairlane. I have a set of 1966-69 FE frame mounts and rubber insulator mounts. It appears the insulators will not line up with the motor bosses. Will insulators from an earlier car, like a 1964 Galaxie, work or does anyone have a fix for this situation.

 Thanks, Jim M

FE Technical Forum / 1968 “135” Mustang RUG-S Toploader Transmission
« on: January 30, 2015, 06:47:27 PM »
I am searching for the current owner of one of the original 1968 “135” Cobrajet Mustangs. The VIN for this particular car is : 8F02R135019. This Mustang was delivered to Tasca Ford based on the documentation from Ford. The car was for sale at the Mecum Auction in Kissimmee in January 2013 but did not sell. I have checked with the Cobrajet Registry and they were not able to locate the current owner either. The reason I want to find who owns this car is because I believe that I have the original RUG-S Toploader from 135019. I have verified the VIN location and stamping type with a current owner of one of these 50 Mustangs so I am reasonably sure I have the correct transmission. If you have any information on who might own this car or you want to let that person know about this, I would appreciate it.
