Seeing all the new tech with superchargers for the late model engines, but have never seen a Whipple or Kenne-Bell supercharger on a FE engine.  Would it be that difficult to do, or is the Paxton-style and Roots blowers just that much more straightforward an installation?

FE Technical Forum / FE C6 won't downshift or kickdown
« on: July 07, 2023, 11:20:54 AM »
I have a TCI street fighter C6 in one of my cars.  It had a column-shift level in it when I purchased it, and I pulled the lever and replaced it with a C6 floor shift lever.  I'm using a Lokar kick down cable.

The transmission works normally in D, but doesn't go into 2 or 1 when the floor shift lever is in that position, nor will it hold in the gear when selected from a stop.  The kickdown doesn't work either.

Suggestions on what I did wrong?

Thanks

FE Technical Forum / Block bolt hole repair on Deck - best option?
« on: January 01, 2022, 05:35:02 PM »
Doing winter maintenance on the 465 in my street car, and have one head bolt that won't torque out.  Center lower hole.

Is a timesert the way to repair this?

Another option could be to run studs on the short external positions, but I'm limited to bolts with shortened heads on the long internal positions to work with my Jesel rocker system.

Thoughts?

Have a pair of 66/67 427 Fairlane 31-spline axles that I just swapped out of my street car for some aftermarket axles.  I've searched all the usual areas on-line and haven't found a recent benchmark for any FoMoCo factory HP axles.  Would seem to be in a similar range to Mustang/Torino CJ axles.

What have y'all been seeing out there recently for axle prices?

Thanks in advance

Non-FE Discussion Forum / Two-post lift hydraulic fluid foaming issue
« on: December 27, 2020, 02:20:50 PM »
Have an off-brand two post lift, probably ten years old.

Having an issue when I lower a car - the reservoir fills with foamed fluid.  I can wait a little while and the foam settles and I can lower the car, but more foam shows up.

No obvious source for aeration into the fluid, and it seems to lift fine, although probably slower that when it was new.

Thoughts on what's happening?  New power unit or gasketing?

Have a new Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold, PN 71054. Same as the 7105, except with the chrome-like Endurashine finish.

Some port-matching was started on one side to LR (1246 gasket) size, but the ports are untouched on the other side.  You'd want to finish the port matching before installing this manifold.

Beautiful intake, wish I had another engine to install it on.  These are almost $700 at most outlets, I'm asking about what Summit gets for a new uncoated P-RPM.

New Comp Cams FB 288R-10 solid roller camshaft.

0.645 Lift intake/exhuast

292 duration at 0.015 lift

243 duration at 0.050 lift

110 degree lobe separation

2200-6500 RPM range.

Strong street/strip cam.

Cam is still wrapped in factory shipping plastic. Outside box shows some wear from shipping/handling. Bought for a project, but plans changed.

Asking price does not include shipping.

SOLD - These headers appear to be Jardine or some other brand from the sixties/seventies.  They are for a FE engine and have GT/CJ bolt pattern.  Tubes 3 and 7 cross over under the oil pan.  Tubes 4 and 8 exit the engine compartment and rejoin the collector.  Makes starter access a breeze!  Primary tubes are 2", collector is 3-1/2".

While the outside of these headers is a bit dingy, the inside of the tubes have no carbon residue, only light surface rust, and there are no dents, leading me to believe that these headers have never been used.  They would look great with a fresh coat of header paint or ceramic coating.

Good used Comp 282S cam/lifters for FE Ford engines.  PN 33-245-4

282 duration (236@0.050), 0.571 lift, 110 separation, 2000-6000 rpm.

Used for several thousand miles in my marine 427, then went a different direction with a smaller hydro roller and a different block.

Lifters and cam look fine, lifters kept in original order.

Asking $100 for the set, plus shipping.

FE Technical Forum / Engine diapers for FE engines
« on: February 12, 2018, 10:49:49 AM »
Byron Raceway announced that diapers are required for all cars running faster than 10.0 this year, and 11.0 next year.  Any consensus on best practice for attaching a diaper to a FE engine in a Fairlane chassis?

FE Technical Forum / Where to mount an extra temp sensor
« on: February 11, 2016, 03:52:10 PM »
Have a blue thunder 1-4V intake, planning to run a Quick Fuel throttle body EFI, which requires a coolant temperature sensor to be mounted on the block side of the thermostat.  I also want to run the factory sensor for the idiot lights.  What's cleanest option for mounting the second sensor?

Would it make sense to add a port on the back of the manfold to measure the temp at the blocked off area of the water jacket?

FE Technical Forum / In car video of weekend run. Is second gear shot?
« on: September 29, 2015, 07:32:46 PM »
Car made three good passes on Saturday at Byron, best of 10.29 @ 130, but the last run the car slowed 5mph and was went 10.54.  Not sure, but the in-car video looks like second gear went by very quickly.  Launch is on a transbrake, 2-stepped at 4100rpm, stall should be around 5000, shift light at 6900.  Thoughts?

The good news is it looks like my jetting is solid, with the A/F meter reading right around 0.85.
