did any 66-67 428s come with chrome thunderbird valve covers.reason im asking is my friend has a wrecker that our fathers had when they were in the junk car business years ago.they went through several 390s over the years in the wrecker,but when they shut down my friend ended up with it.he said his dad put a 428 in it before retiring.i popped the hood on it yesterday but i could not tell much about it from a glance.but it did have chrome t-bird valve covers and a low flat intake with a small 4 bbl carb not a holley or autolite.

my 66 has about a zillion miles on it and its getting pretty loose and it travels all over the lane,even when your trying to go looking for a complete rebuild kit with everything i need. anyone like to share some info on a good kit? thanks

Did anyone see the roadkill episode where they are supposedly rescuing a early 60s galaxie 390 4 speed car .they are really making the fe look bad.they got the car running and took right off in it without checking everything they should.they got down the road a ways and it overheated,they did not tighten the bottom rad hose and lost all there water.they got it going again and drove it till it gave out.then they bought another 390 and started it with no oil pressure and they ruined that motor makes me wish i could give them a free  good 390 and help get it running without instant failure. this episode is hard to watch if you are a true fe fan.

i just ran a 3/8 fuel line on my comet.i ran it along beside the stock line.i have a fuel cell in the trunk with the 3/8 line ran to old line is still hooked up to the stock,medal tank.the question is can i make a return line out of the old medal line and tank.the return would be going to a different tank than the fuel is in.would this cause a problem .should i run the return line to the fuel cell instead.would it fill the stock tank while the electric pump is running or would it just take the vapor lock overflow.could i use a filter with a return line on it or would i need a regulator. thanks

i see a couple topics where people are looking for FE dad and uncle used to haul junk cars to the crusher back in the 70s-90s;my uncle would rob some of the fe stuff before they hauled them uncle gave me a box of pulleys,all FE,big box,plum full of crank,water pump,ps, guessing 50-100 pulleys different sizes,1 belt,2 belts,and 3 belt pulleys.a guy came over looking for a single small pulley for his race the time i was into other stuff besides old cars.i said hell,take the whole box.i will never use them.what a dummy i was.i see now people paying 40 dollars and up for 1 pulley

my 428 has not been wanting to start lately.i drove it last winter with no if i let it sit for more than 2 days,it dont want to crank.temps has been in the 35-50 range.i put new plugs in-no difference.i have msd box,dist,coil.once it finally cranks it runs like a top,starts like a champ until i let it sit for more than a day,then it wont i ran my batt down and it never started.i tried starting fluid one day and it finally started,but the next time even starting fluid diddnt help.  any ideas?

I dug out a old summit catalog from 2002 from my stash,and i was looking at tires.i found some MT indy profile tires size L60-14s.they were 27.5 inches tall with a 9.5 inch wide tread, part number MTT1036.I wonder if they are still available?

wonder if anyone will ever have the time and money to take a good 390-428 engine and try different heads on the same engine ,maybe with a good rpm intake. bbm,survival,trickflow, eldrebrock,cj,gt heads,etc.all out of the box and stock heads.i wonder if this will ever happen?

my 428 runs pretty strong but im getting a low speed miss from idle to about 2000 and after that it smooths out and runs well.any thoughts.been working on the 850 last week?

how tall and wide 14 inch tires can i get these days.i had some hoosier dot drag tires on last seems like 26 tall and 9-9.5 tread width is the biggest i can they sell them 27 or taller or is 26 inches about the limit on a 14 inch rim

i have a 850 dp has #80 jets front and back.problem is its running rich at low speeds and at wot it leans out due to the gas going to back of the carb at wot.i ordered a jet kit and thinking if i install a set of extentions on the secondaries and block off the rear power valve it may many sizes would i need to go up for the extentions and power valve block.i heard to go up 4 sizes for the extentions.and 4-8 for the power valve block.i think i will try 76s in the front with a pv,and 92s on the rear with no pv with extentions,and then go from there.any thoughts
