Member Projects / BBM 482 build
« on: October 01, 2019, 09:35:14 AM »
Since the 445 Maverick is on track to be completed over the winter (waiting for me to paint and assemble) I decided to gather some parts I have been collecting for the next stroker build and get them to the machine shop. Not really sure what power to expect.
This one is a” just because I want to” kind of build (I have several in mind). It consists mostly of impulse buys over the last year. It started after I had the 445 on Jays dyno and wanted more. Mostly just wanted a 427 based build and to use some of the cool FE power stuff that kept following me home. I am pretty certain a roller cam would be more capable but I have always wanted to do a SFT build and in my feeble mind I thought it suited a tunnel ram better. As per usual the motor is being built prior to having a vehicle  for it to go in to.

FE Technical Forum / TQ converter recomendation
« on: July 12, 2018, 01:53:09 PM »
Looking for a recommendation on a TQ converter and stall speed. Car is a Maverick with a 445. Aluminum heads ported, BT 4V manifold port matched, C4 trans, 3:55 gear and a 26” tire. Cam is a Hydraulic roller 291/303 and 235/241 @.050. The car will primarily be a stop light to stop light street car with the occasional long trip. I initially thought a 3200 to 3500 stall would be fun and when I called the shop to order one he recommended a 2800 to 3000 stall for my use. Thoughts on stall and brand of converter?

Good Deals! / Faron Rhoads

My current distributor was giving me fits, gave Faron a call and he sent out a Duraspark curved to my combo. Easy to deal with and a fair deal.

Non-FE Discussion Forum / 8 in. rear end
« on: March 12, 2017, 07:27:18 AM »
I think I know the answer to this but was wondering if anyone has made an 8 in. work. I am building a 71 Maverick with a 445 FE and C4 trans. The car already has an eight inch rear end. Can these be made to take the torque of an FE? Or should I just scrap it and go with a 9 inch, it would need to be gone through and re-geared anyways.

Since my O.C.D and A.D.D were fighting each other it has been a hard decision on what car to put the 445 in. I have a couple, so like any good Ford obsessed guy that can't decide on a direction. I took a ride into the country and found a new one. The others are now on mothballs waiting for the next go round and this comes home tonight. In the end power to weight ratio won out. There was a pinto there also but he didn't want to part with it. Should be fun!

Non-FE Discussion Forum / Mustang shock tower
« on: January 10, 2017, 12:10:09 PM »
I am going to look at a Mustang l as a possible acquisition. I have a question on the shock towers before I go look it over. I have not owned one before but the shock towers look  different than my FE cougar almost like they were beat on or modified a bit. Is this someones attempt at making room? Supposedly a numbers matching 351W, 4 speed 4:11 car which of course would be replaced with an FE stroker. Car has been stored since 86 and is a restoration candidate. I have not contacted the owner yet but at the price he is asking I am sure it will not be around long.

FE Technical Forum / Another new guy and a 445.
« on: July 22, 2016, 02:45:14 PM »
After much lurking and soaking up as much as I could via the forum and member communication. I have had a few false starts and am finally ready to start work on a 445. Figured I would post the combo here for input and to motivate me to finish. This motor was initially slated for a 62 ford F100 but will instead be going into my 67 Cougar until a more serious motor can be put together for it. I have no clear HP expectation from this motor just a strong street car that is fun to play with. Had plans for a 462 solid roller, but this is what I am working with now. I have assembled quite a few motors but this is the first FE, although I have owned a few. Any and all input is welcome.

My question is am I missing something or on the right track before I start assembly I have no issue replacing parts if needed.
