FE Technical Forum / After fire poping out headers
« on: March 14, 2017, 10:19:50 PM »
Any ideas  why my 445 would be popping out the headers?
It's running great other wise.
Timing is set at 34° total right now
750 double pumper is running  a little bigger jets than it came with 73 front 85 back
I opened the little screw at the bottom  for the secondaries a bit more
Vacuum advance has been eliminated on the ready to run distributor
It's running  awesome  starts and idles great just pops a bit when I let off.

FE Technical Forum / valve float @5000
« on: June 07, 2015, 09:31:38 AM »
445 stroker using a comp cams 280h cam 230/230 @ .50, lobe lift .306, valve lift .530,  comp cams recommended springs 926-16 used on 66gt heads  transmission shifts @ 5000RPM in drive and i can feel it valve floating just before shift point. any ideas, shorter push rods or something easy would be nice. has anyone changed valve springs in the car? if i push it it might get to 5400 RPM. my 390 last year with the same cam pulled hard all the way to the rev limiter @ 5800, this sucks.

FE Technical Forum / Gear choice for 1/4 mile
« on: May 01, 2015, 07:20:20 AM »
Looking for advice on gear choice for 1/4 mile. I will be running my 66 Fairlane GTA: 445 ci, 10.2 pistions, 280h comp cam with recommended springs, bone stock heads c6ae u, performer rpm intake, holley 750 dp, fpa headers, 255/60/15 M/T slicks, 2200-2400 stall. I ran 4.11 last year and limited out at 5800 rpm 100mph (my choice) with the old 390. Should i turn up my rev limiter, step up my gears or a combination of both? Would 3.70 be to high?
I ran 13.20 @ 100 with some nitrous last year but don't really want to put it on the new motor.

FE Technical Forum / 445 cam advice
« on: April 11, 2015, 02:51:59 PM »
looking for cam advice for my 445. building 445 with stock 66 gt heads streetmaster intake and fpa headers. my last 2 cams for the 390 were comp cams 270h and the 280h magnum series, both were good cams. edelbrock  heads aren't really in the budget this year since i would have to change out my headers. any advice would be great.
