Non-FE Discussion Forum / Re: Torque conerter bolts sheered off
« on: September 06, 2022, 12:35:41 PM »
it is an adapter kit to mate the C4 to the y block. uses an adapter pilot to mate c4 converter hub to y block crank pilot. an adapter bellhousing is part of the kit. i have used this kit on other projects with no problems but never at this power level. spacer thickness at the flywheel to TQ attaching point is .750". would like to re-engineer this but what to get it back together for the nostalgia race at Rock Falls on Sep. 16-17. I use a torque ring spacer welded on my gasser converter and with probably make one for this too.
Thank you all for your input!!

I've been doing this for a while but can't remember seeing this..
500+hp- Y block and C4 trans
without warning in 3 rd gear at 1000 ft bolts broke and engine ran free into limiter
limiter saved the engine
about 60-70 passes on combo
an ideas on this??

Who da thunk that?

« on: July 26, 2021, 11:45:21 AM »
opened my pump up, commutator worn way down, armature shorted and burnt black, looks like the pump parts are good, will save until I get a pump that runs but don't pump, make one out of 2.
put this pump on in 2012, used,  ran until now, great service I would say!
Thanks for responses..

Any one out there know of a rebuilder of the mallory 140 electric fuel pump?
the electric motor part of mine died last week end, I really like these pumps but are spendy.

They were "prepped" NHRA legal for stock eliminator heads I got with the R code Fairlane when I bought it. Date codes were not correct for Fairlane resto so I used them on the stock eliminator car until I sold the car, kept the top end and then put them on the gasser motor where they ran until 2 years ago when one intake wall casting collapsed and locked the motor with coolant after breaking a flexplate and subsequent internal  vibrations. sold the remaining good head to Jack and the bad head to another forum member as a repair project.

when I was running index with my 289 66 fairlane I had a 12.50 setup with a 780 carb, open headers and no added weight on good air days, if bad air, I went with my 13.00 set up, 650 carb, mufflers, and added weight as necessary to get dialed in. never changed timing. worked well for me for years.

All that torque at comparatively low rpm, might not need that deep of gear.
My little Y block max torque rpm is at higher rpm.
Great job !
