Diogenes,
It started as a factory built 427 car, but not a lightweight. Stories get told, owners change, facts fade.

Diogenes,
No 'factory' lightweights in 1965-66. Ford X garage built a 1965 Galaxie with glass nose but it was modified to run in B/FX, not S/S. This was The "Quiet One" sponsored by Bob Ford.

Also at Mecum Glendale was a restored 1963.5 Galaxie Lightweight:

https://www.mecum.com/lots/1113303/1963-ford-galaxie-500-lightweight/?aa_id=565065-0

Sold for $117,500 plus commission.  Maybe a bargain compared to the BAT Fairlane.

Maybe Atlanta built the 57 R-Codes as a batch? The BaT auction car from 2022 was scheduled 9 calendar days before this current car yet the 2022 car has a higher serial number.

Nice restoration. Warrantee tag on the door is a reproduction. Kinda makes me wonder.

Are these L19 rod bolts easily identified?

Thread is regular FE. Two of the 8 holes have it.

I am not familiar with this style thread repair. Was there a particular company that offered this repair? Seems like the original thread would have to be totally wiped and even then why would you go through the difficulty?

I believe that the input shaft gear tooth count on the wide ratio is different than the close ratio.

Gott Nytt Ar.
In this area the roads were not plowed 1900. The snow was packed with giant rolling rig.

Not good when cars appeared 1910's because in spring 2 meter depth of packed snow took longer to thaw. Cars had to drive in field alongside road until pack thawed.

I watched the great video in post #1. Is there another video that goes into detail about the sand compaction?
I understand that it is vibrated but it seems as though the pour displacing the foam around the intake runners would disturb the 'column' of sand inside the runner.

Not trying to hijack but I am looking for either Federal 88128 or Timken 514003 for a 1962 Galaxie big bearing rear.
I was originally hoping to find USA made or old stock from a known name.
Failing that, I ordered the Timken from Rockauto understanding that they would probably be offshore.
When two bearings arrived one of them was in a Timken box printed 'made in China'. The other box was plain white with just a part number. Neither bearing had 'Timken' stamped on the edge of the race.

Seems obvious now that you said it. I think the term "bowls" is what threw me.

My Dallas built '62 Galaxie is just about the opposite. Mostly stripped in pieces.
If the tan/green paint on the underside could be deciphered into a paint mix recipe I would definitely want to use it on mine.

Plus, the original 2x4 carbs only had one metering block per carb with the secondary one being a plate.  These have two "blocks" each, plus the cathedral bowls.  Of course, I haven't measured and everything could have been scaled down some.

Pat

I'm way behind the curve on this. Why do we have bowls on an FI unit?
