The original 67 Shelby covers were cast by Buddy Bar.

The two "stock" 428 PI Shelby engines I saw run on the dyno produced less than 370 HP.
The C7AE-A head is about as bad as it gets.

Original 67 Shelby  Cobra Lemans covers are in a straight line as mentioned. The PCV valve grommet hole is round without the notches or "ears"
All of the original and the reproduction units are flat on the gasket rail. I hope that helps.

I am running a dual friction Centerforce clutch in my Mustang with well over 500 HP. Never one issue. It's smooth, reduced pedal effort and doesn't slip with a no surprise engagement. I saw a few of the purported issued on the "internet"  40 years using them on my Datsun SSS cars and others
I've never had an issue with disengagement at high RPM. ( 6500) My only change from factory linkage was the Mustang Steve heavy duty roller bearing conversion for the pedal support. I ran the same units on my SSS 510 cars. The original clutch in the car was 12" for 1967 with the FE.
The Long style never wore evenly and was extremely hard on factory clutch linkage. The issue may have been pre Dual Friction Clutches.
While you may not like them for drag racing they work phenomenally on street cars.
I heard the same issue with Pertronix units. I have had the same Igniter II on my car. I did lose two coils, never the ignitor in almost 20 years.

Yes, all 1967 GT 500s come with the C7ZX dual quad medium riser intake and the BJ-BK Holley carbs.

Long style clutch. Do not get a Centerforce or other diaphragm style of clutch.
Why are you poo-pooing the Diapgram/Centerforce clutches?

It has been about three years to my recollection.  I had a fan clutch come apart and the blades wound up working like a fragmentation grenade and cracked the hood and the paint. A body shop had the car for two months.  I can tell the idiots made a mess of the meticulous restoration and rinsed the engine compartment off with a hose.  I wouldn't doubt that sanding dust wound up where it didn't belong.
Strangely enough This is the second time I drove the car since it was picked up. I did find some garbage in the screen and also in the well the power valve sits in. I pulled the bowls and blew some Berryman's through the passages, needle and seat, idle screws. I am going to pick up a new set of bowl gaskets and reassemble it tomorrow. I did notice that I had to open the idle adjustment screw up quite a bit to get it to idle at about 1500. It was unstable and would die out like it was starving below. If anything else comes to mind please post before I go to Summit in the morning.
I did check the fuel pump and turning the engine over it shows just over 6 PSI.

I had Drew do my 2X4 Holleys from Carl's. ( Repo BJ-BK)  I went for a drive and out of the blue I had an issue with idle but runs fine about about 1600 rpm and up but wont idle at 900 as usual.
Because I have a Pertronix II I thought I may have a coil or module issue.  I did the rudimentary testing and found no faults, including verifying sold ground at the distributor. Factory C5AF 427 Centrifugal advance unit.
The voltage is at 11.5 ( not loaded) and the coil is at .05 Ohm.
However, I pulled the carburetors off and noticed that the primary carburetor ( Front) has a rubber vacuum cap on the nipple on the metering block and it was compromised.   Would that cause idle issues in itself?  I am unfamiliar with that port and the OE BJ-BK units do not have them.
Any guidance would be helpful!

Thanks, I am trying. I am only a couple months post. I think the home PT isn't particularly helpful. I am making a much better recovery going to formal PT.
I am just to the point where I can kneel on a soft pad if I'm careful and on a pad.

The Minimum crank thrust play on an FE is .010.

It's not a Shelby at all. It's a clone. It's still disgusting that an idiot would steal a car to strip off a few sheet metal items. At one time parts of this nature were hard to come by. Most of what was stolen is available from OE tooling and they actually fit.  20 year old clueless idiot.

This is where you want to go with OE AC systems. They restored the expansion valve for my 67 Shelby. They can also restore or make new lines for just about anything.

It's from a 67 GT500. It's from the police interceptor with dual alternator belts. Let me see if I can find it this morning. It's about 2.25"

I wanted to thank everyone for their input and possibilities. My senses tell me it's not something I'm going to be happy about.
I guess in reality I am just trying to enjoy the car for a while without doing some kind of constant maintenance.
I am recovering from a knee replacement and trying to stay off the knee cap. I'll put some padding down and be done with it.

I haven't heard much positive about Richmond in the last few years. The gears installed were new Richmonds. I don't remember if the ford additive was used during the re-install. It may have just been the lube with additive in it. The axle bearings were just replaced two months ago.
It does remind me of a bearing whine. I know those were new too.

To answer Scott's question. No, it wasn't nearly this noisy initially.
