I had heard of it's use as an easy cheap octane booster. It's a ratio of about 2.5gallons to 5 gallons of 93 should be around 100 octane. No MMT to worry about either. Asking here as there is usually a wealth if knowledge on these things. Xylene I guess is similar but from having used the stuff it eats everything and the smell is just awful.

Trying to find opinions or even best practices in using either. Toluene is already an aromatic so I would think it may not have a huge effect on the fuel system other than adding octane.

I have a sn95 I am prepping myself. I found that a 10" wheel with a 6.5" backspacing will get you around 10.5" without mini tubs. Does anyone know if just rolling the lip on the fender is a illegal modification?

Thanks for the heads up on the website and the pics even if they are a bit dated. New England dragway isn't too far from me I will have to head there and soee who and what I can find. I missed most of this season being in Brazil for work and on my way back tommorow. All the lovely OT pays for the car.

So when I see things like un modified floor pans. Does that mean clearancing with a hammer is a go but no welding?  Also I get the no voids thing on a cage and no grinding so it's probably ly best to tack things out of sight?

Thanks again everyone.

Non-FE Discussion Forum / NHRA rules help

Long story short. Long time car guy big mustang and FE guy. Love the brain trust here so much info can be learned about more than just the FE. Had plans to build a 390 powered ranger life happened that didn't go so smooth. Fell into a extremely solid SN95 mustang and a 6.0 Silverado. (I know I know the devils powerplant)

I got the bug to build it and if I can do a drag week. Stupid power seems to be possible with this power plant and I am trying to navigate the nhra rules as well as the drag week rules for the street race category.

The plan is to do the things I should for a 8.50 cert even if the driveline isn't up to it at the moment. Things like a cage etc. I may have some questions on best practices there as well. I am unsure of the silly stuff like what's legal for a fuel cell. And I cannot find a cheat sheet or a Legal NHRA for Dummies Book.

Any and all input is appreciated. I am starting late with the rules and way over my head.

Current build is a 6.0 destroked with a 4.8 crank and rods a 7875 turbo a pair of 4mm wastegates. Good flowing stock heads and a built 4l80. Sorry I know it's gm but you guys have your stuff together and I am a ford guy at heart.

No methanol here so that's not a concern. I had been searching for a switched y kind of deal. Plan was for a drag and drive kind of thing by next summer. I think overall the cell may be a little small either way 5 gallons of pump even at 13ish mpg is 65 miles and alot of stops. The Russell shutoff valves may be a viable option if I stick with this route.

Thanks for the input. I am going to have to mull this over. I did look at some of the truck switching valves but I was very concerned about the flow capability. I may have to just do a pair of pumps a borderline fuel system is not where I want to be while spraying.

Non-FE Discussion Forum / Efi and fuel cell questions
« on: June 22, 2021, 06:52:04 PM »
So I have a chance to get a 10 gallon cell which is split into two 5 gallon chambers. I am doing a efi, nitrous project, and the pair of 5 gallons cells is appealing race gas in one and street fuel in the other. I cannot for the life of me find a good way to switch between the two if I choose this route. Each has a pickup and return etc.  I understand if I just use a diverter... if I could find one that would work some mixing of fuel would occur. Any ideas or suggestions? I am running a aeromotive a1000 and they recommend a -10 feed into the pump that's part of this as well.

So I was poking around after asking. And it seems the cam is is multiple catalogs it's different pn's but from what I gather the same cam. Even China is knocking it off as the elgin number. So my concern just went up even further... I guess it's degree and pray or find a cam from a known company. Thanks for the replies this forum is a wealth of knowledge.

I'm a little more diy myself. https://wide-band.com/wb-d1-digital-wideband-afr-controller-module-diy-board can be wired to a wideband o2 and output to either a pc or your afr Guage of choice. Budgets and the keeper of my money lead to innovation...

So not a fe application. But does anyone have experience with Elgin Cams? Looking for good bad or ugly info. Helping with a ::shiver:: LS swap and my friend is using a Elgin cam and I don't have much knowledge.

I lurk here alot... tons of amazing info I fit into that under 40 crowd trying to piece together a FE. Tunnel port cammer parts etc even a solid FE the entrance fee is steep. Steeper still for the exotic stuff. Its a solid platform that no one else I know in my age bracket want to deal with. Sad but things like lack of hardened seats in stock heads and so few machinists will touch them keeps the ls swap crowd running strong. That said it's nice to see people trying to make this stuff available to those of us who came too late to score it when ford unloaded.

Massachusetts uses the same emissions rules California. So I grabbed obd1 ranger 93 splash. No ecu to plug into and it's just a matter of someone looking the other way on my swap. Trying for a 390 with a c6 in mine. I may end up going 302 or 289. This cam info will prove useful then thanks.

Sorry to hijack a thread but anyone know how they managed a kickdown on that setup? I cannot clearly see it.

Having experience with steelit, the spray bombs come out very heavy, and the stuff in cans is tough to get to lay well. It orange peels pretty bad very easily as well. We use it on all our large cabinets for our machines at work.
