Remflex. I run them on my Shelby with the Edelbrock heads and Hooker 6114 headers. Not a leak, burn out proof and seal amazingly well. Even on irregular surfaces.

On the the few plugs that show a timing mark it looks good timing wise.
For under $200.00 you could get an A/F reader in the car and that would answer a lot of questions.  Course, once you have a wide band in there additional questions will develop, lol. But if you like to tune it’s a must have in my opinion.

JB, I would love to have an AF meter. Its a real Shelby. I have nowhere to hide it.

I sent the carbs to Drew.  There were some strange issues with them he ironed out.  I am running one turn out on the mixture. They run off the secondaries so the idle screws are all but closed.  I do get a lean backfire through them sometimes when the engine is cold. Drew said that is normal. No choke, so it runs like hell until it warms up. The fuel pressure is right about 6 PSI with the Edelbrock pump Vs. 9 psi with the performance Carter.
I have nowhere to hide a fuel pressure regulator because it's all hard line through the 427 canister filter and being it's a real Shelby I don't want to modify it.
As the temps warm up I get a few idle issues and hard re-starts.

I can't even imagine doing that on an FE mustang with power brakes between rounds. With the factory Cobra -Le Mans cast pent roof covers you're lucky to get the plug wires back on correctly.

In case you weren't aware the smaller housings will not accommodate the CF clutches. They don't clear the counterweights.

Here are the FR4 plugs. I think Barry R recommended them. I noted that many didn't like the RC12YC plugs recommend by Edelbrock.
With that said, I think the heat range is a little hot. I'll let those that do this regularly opine on what changes need to be made. It does smell and seem a bit rich and I smell some fuel while driving.  Thank you. Keith

I wish you luck. Nothing worse than the in-out scenario and not being able to enjoy your vehicle. Other good advice is to know your machinist all but intimately. Because when they screw up you take it in the backside EVERY damn time.

I have been running FR4 plugs with the Edelbrocks heads. The Edelbrock recommended plug is a Champion RC12YC.  I have never had a Champion plug I liked and I saw many of them being returned due to failure in vehicles.  Two plugs were recommended here. One is the NGK FR4, the other BKR6E.  Remember, this is a factory dual quad car that is street driven with the occasional "blast".  There is some soot on the body, which I am a bit rich but much I see a lot of gray on the electrode and ground. I had a set of BKR6E in my cabinet. Any reason not to run them?
Is there another recommendation?  I might add that I am also running the Pertronix II and matching coil. Direct 12V power source to the module as instructed. The compression ratio is about 9.8:1.
Any suggestions would be welcome.

It's confusing and I should have taken the precaution and measured. I understood it was only blocks used with dump trucks and such.

my guess is the rings never seated. Put some Rislone in it and drive it like you stole it. You don't need to over rev it, but I'd punish that bad girl.
Which Rislone are you recommending for new engines that didn't seal? There seem to be quite a few. One is synthetic. Brent and a couple others suggested staying away from synthetics on new builds. Or is the small quantity safe?

Due to having to replace a block on an engine with less than 400 miles that I wanted to save the custom cam on. I ran it on the outer springs for 25 minutes then on the inner for 25 minutes per advice here and was lucky enough that the lifters seated with no issue. I also cut the filter open and inspected it. I changed the oil with another seven quarts of Brad Penn 30WT break-in oil and changed it again at 350 miles. I again cut the filer. I used a ton of Isky cam lube as a precautionary measure as well. Almost 1,000 miles since with only a couple quirks.

DO NOT USE TRU ARC! Use Spirolocs.  I have seen many come out and destroy cylinder walls.   I have dual Spirolocs in the JE pistons on each side. I had them milled to make removal easier. What a pain in the arse!

I am trying to get clarification. Understand the true FT blocks have a compressor drain back to the block. Is that how the blocks are identified that need the distributor? It wasn't measured previously to assembly.

I maintain about 18-20 PSI at Idle ( 900 RPM) and about 55-65 at 3500 RPM hot.  I changed to Valvoline VR10-30. Does that sound about right?

I made the tool to lock the shifter. However, Ford didn't spell out the procedure. I assumed what needed to be done is all three levers should be in neutral. The shifter locked in neutral and the rod nuts tightened. Did I miss anything?
