Private Classifieds / 1964 Falcon Drag Car For Sale
« on: August 31, 2023, 09:28:21 AM »
1964 Falcon Drag Car
I am selling this for my good friend Randy Spohn. Unfortunately, Randy is no longer able to devote the time or effort necessary to keep racing. This is one of the BADDEST FE powered cars in the country. Multiple low qualifier at the FE Race and Reunion as well as multiple low qualifier at Fast Fords at Dragway 42 in the FE class. The car and trailer are at my house in Loveland, Ohio. I can answer most any question concerning the car. I have driven this car and it drives and handles very nice. Randy has well over $100K invested. The car is offered turnkey needing nothing but fuel to go racing. Asking $82,500 for the car TK.
Details as follows:
•   John Holt Race Cars chrome moly tube chassis NHRA certified to 6.00 (needs renewed). Car is light weight, detailed and very nice. More details to serious buyer.
•   529 ci FE. Shelby aluminum block, Crower billet crank, Oliver billet rods, Edelbrock/Kuntz heads, T&D rockers, Hogan sheet metal intake, 2 APD Dominators, originally built by Kuntz & Co. and recently freshened by Jet Boat Bob. Engine has about 15 passes since freshened and needs nothing. More details to serious buyer.
•   Joel’s on Joy C-4 with billet first and second gear sets, Trans brake, manual reverse valve body, air shifter and electric neutral. ATI convertor.
•   Car has been 8 teens at over 160mph leaving pretty soft and has a lot more potential in it.
•   I also am selling his trailer. A 2018 Bravo 24’ trailer with new tires last year. The tires have about 1000 miles on them and look brand new. Trailer has been stored inside and is in great shape. Cabinets across the front, electric winch and some Pit Pal items, 12V and 110V lights. $15K.
PM or call (513) 616-3503. Package deal possible.

If possible, try not to schedule the same weekend as Hot Rod Reunion Bowling Green Ky. usually Fathers Day weekend. Thanks for putting this event together.
We Understand and appreciate your thought but this is the only weekend that is available in the May/June time frame we wanted. Plus Bowling Green, KY is 7+ hours from Dragway 42 in West Salem, Ohio so not sure how much that would affect our event.  We have learned that it is impossible to not have any conflicts with the schedule but we hope that the FORD racers would support our ALL FORD race. Thanks.

Weekend Re-Cap:
A big THANK YOU from all of us that put this race together (Myself, Carl Binius, Mike Weaks, Joe Fritz, William Spangler to all the diehard Ford racers, sponsors and fans that attended this event. The weather forecast was less than perfect but we actually got all three days in with just a little delay on Saturday morning. The turnout was impressive considering the forecast. We had participants from Maine, Texas, Iowa, Connecticut, New York and North Carolina just to name a few that I can remember.
I need to thank our sponsors for without their support this event could not happen:
Presenting Sponsor Performance Automatic
Harland Sharp
Trick Flow Specialties
Sarchione Ford
Complete Truck Service
Carl’s Ford Parts
Survival Motorsports
Mickey Thompson

I also would like to thank Ron and Mary Anne Matcham at Dragway 42 for their support and help making this event a success. What a great facility and an awesome track. Thank you to the entire Dragway 42 staff for a “JOB WELL DONE”
I need to also extend a big THANK YOU to the Race Director Joe Fritz and his staff Bill Spangler and Bill Oehlke for making this event run so smoothly. You guys did an outstanding job and I am very grateful.
With the low car count we decided to eliminate the two Quick 8 Classes but still payed out Low Qualifier bonus money. Congratulations to Randy Spohn (FE) with an 8.42 and Rich Kent with an 4.76 (I think) for being the low qualifiers.
Congratulations to all the winners and give away winners. One in particular I would like to recognize is our Sunday Bracket One winner Mandi DeLarec. For those that don’t know Miss Mandi she drives a bottom bulb Mustang and it is geared for 1/8 mile only. So she entered Bracket One against all the box cars and put in the Winners Circle for her first win at Dragway 42. Very Impressive Mandi.
Already looking forward to next years event. We learned a lot from this years event and promise a bigger and better event next year. Stay tuned……..

Doug,

You are spot on.....I talked to several of our FEer'S and even some of the Y Block guy's. Most are from out of Ohio and all are very experienced.....I didn't want to say getting OLD...:). All said they were not comfortable traveling and staying in a hotel yet. Can't say I blame them...!! Not to mention the financial hardships on some and even our sponsors.
As one of my wise friends said "I want to race for years to come...not just once more". Made sense to me.....Let's all live to race another day. I just hope by September we can go to the FERR.

Due to Covid-19..The team has decided to cancel this event for 2020. This decision was not easy but out of respect for our racers and families, our sponsors and the spectators we felt this was the right decision. We have re-scheduled this event for the same weekend in June next year.

Thanks to all for your support and hope to see you in 2021.
