I paid for a Sideoiler Garage block a couple of years ago that never got supplied. If you can get it out of Tim mcLoughlin, you are welcome to it!

You mentioned Genesis which made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. They are no more and Tim Mcloughlin ex Genesis started up Sideoiler Garage. Please don’t fall into the trap that he can supply a block. We are still waiting for a block we ordered a couple of years ago that was supposedly ready to be shipped. We have been promised our money would be returned for years now. Stay away big time!!!!! We had a good experience with BBM though!

We have a very similar setup. The advise provided in the earlier replies by the FE engine builder gurus is inline with what we did when freshly built. The challenge/frustration we find is after the first start, the lifters don’t bleed down, so where to set them then? Our approach has been to remove any lash when cold and then screw the adjuster down 1/4 turn. We occasionally get one or two that are a bit noisy so we nip those ones down a whisker more. Any more than this we were finding valves were hanging open when cold.

FE Technical Forum / Harland Sharp rocker arms
« on: March 31, 2019, 07:45:55 PM »
I am looking at buying a set of Harland Sharp rocker arms to replace the failing original adjustable ford rocker arms. The engine is a 482cui, edelbrock heads, hydraulic roller cam with .600 lift. I am already using the Precision Oil Pumps heavy duty shafts and their end supports, and have already had a set of custom push rods made to suit the current setup. I am hoping that I can just replace the rocker arms and keep on using everything else. I am hoping that someone can confirm that changing the rocker arms from original to Harland Sharps will not require a change in push rod length.

Thanks in advance

So you haven’t had any resolution either. I wonder how Tim Mcloughlin sleeps at night?

Even your junk block is better than my Sideoiler Garage Block. Has never been supplied from Tim despite paying for it 18 months ago. At least you have some metal in front of you.

I hope that someone isn't trying to convince you that there are new blocks available? Genesis now fly under the banner of Sideoiler Garage. We were told in early 2017 that a batch of blocks were just being finished off. We paid for a block on the understanding it would be shipped by the end of that week. It's now over a year and unfortunately no block and next to no communication from Tim McLoughlin. Very disappointing. Its a shame that scammers are out there!

Warning - Buyer Beware / Re: Sideoiler Garage Aluminium Block

Hi Barry and thanks for your post. The rotating assembly and the various other goodies that we purchased through you earlier this year are taking pride of place in our shed......thank you again!
It is just unfortunate that we can't finish the project though. This project has been a long time dream of my fathers and the aim was to have it ready for his 70th Birthday. That milestone passed a couple of weeks ago and it is gut wrenching that the project has been halted. I still remain hopeful that Tim will do the right thing by both of us. For me that is the return of our money as promised back in May. It would be a well welcomed Christmas present!!

Thanks for your post Jay. I am still hopefull that we hear from Tim shortly regarding our SOG side oiler block 'purchase'. It has been a long and distressing wait given we were expecting it to be shipped in April and it is now December. We have been sympathetic to the casting issues experienced but the lack of communication along with the failure to return our monies as promised on several occasions is getting hard to swallow. Hopefully Tim or someone who knows him will see these posts and it prompts some positive action.

Warning - Buyer Beware / Sideoiler Garage Aluminium Block
« on: December 13, 2017, 07:52:20 AM »
Hi fellow FE fans, I would like to put a call out for some assistance. In April of this year (2017), we ordered a new Sideoiler Garage aluminium block directly from Tim Mcloughlin on the understanding it was ready for dispatch by the end of the week. Unfortunately the block was never dispatched and after several weeks of limited communication it turned out that all the blocks recently cast were defective. At our request and on the basis of being unable to supply, Tim agreed to return our funds. Unfortunately it is now December and we are yet to see our monies returned. The last promise was made in September which confirmed the refund by the end of October. We have been sympathetic to the casting faults and I understand several batches after the April castings have also proven to be defective, but I think we have suffered enough! Tim is now proving to be impossible to contact. At least weekly i call and leave messages, send text messages and email, however the vast majority are ignored. I have had no contact since September. Any advice or suggestions on how I might be able to contact Tim in the hope we can bring this disaster to a satisfactory end?
