Non-FE Discussion Forum / Re: 2009 Ford Fusion overheating help needed.
« on: February 01, 2022, 12:13:41 PM »
I'm with Heo and Stangman on the slight compression leak.  We bought an '11 Escape new and were introduced into the world of potential 2.3 problems when I began to inquire as to why the engine became mechanically noisy at idle by the time we had 15,000 miles on it.

Per some friends I've known for decades at my local Ford garage these engine blocks have a habit of developing minute cracks between cylinders 2 and 3. If the crack migrates up to an insignificant spot at the head gasket and head interface then it'll keep going strong (albeit noisy).  If the crack migrates elsewhere you get compression loss into the cooling system which of course results in overheating and coolant loss.  No idea how the noise lines up with this issue, but the potential cracking between 2 & 3 is common and real.

Non-FE Discussion Forum / Re: 61-64 full sized headers
« on: March 17, 2021, 07:33:16 AM »
I'm thinking the 60 was a one year only frame. maybe wider after the A frames. And yes one header tube does go thru the inner fender and around the outside of the frame back to the collector.
Yep, 2 tubes do the same on the passenger side.  Inner fender had to be cut but it sure is nice for starter access (says the guy who made a hobby out of pulling the starter 'till he got everything right).  Unbolt 3 & 4 and they slide out of their joints with no hassle.  Doesn't answer the question about fit in a '60, these pics are in a '64, might give you a visual cue?

Amen. I'm running David Kee stuff and in my view that's where you need to go first.

Chris:
Without a doubt, we are running against a clock that will at some point unwind. Jesus certainly wasn't a leftist, so that makes that one easy. The same party that has been trying to sell Global alarmism is the same one with Al Gore who set up a Carbon "Stock Market" in which you could buy, sell and trade carbon credits and went defunct when Al Bore lost the election.
So once again, the lefties always want complete control of every aspect of life.  It's the same lie that 97% of scientists support Global Warming. They don't.
They came up with that crap by googling all reports with keywords. They didn't even read them. Only 1.6% blame it directly on human actions in reality.
I am sure humans had nothing to do with the ice age or it's melt either.
As usual, lefties got rich off of so-called climate change.  As with all climate models, not one has come to pass. Let that soak into your gourd.
The reason R12 was all but eliminated was because of the patent expiring on the refrigerant.  DuPont was behind that crock of crap. So now we have R22 phased out this year. Same reasons. Guess who?

Yup, all ya gotta do is look for the biggest hypocrites and then follow the money.  I remember when PA decided emissions testing was necessary as a means to disguise how they were going to soak more money from registered vehicle owners every year.  I remember the public outcry of the stupidity of it and the government answer offered about the testing:  "It doesn't cost that much and it can't hurt to do it".  Not long after we got the world famous non vented gas cans where you are absolutely assured you will pour gas on the ground, on yourself or your equipment.  I recently drove to Texas and Erie PA had the most expensive gas for the whole trip, we had to add 50 cents a gallon here for "infrastructure work".  The definition of infrastructure work is "gross mismanagement of funds".

Oh, and Chris, I completely agree that concerning the weather its all in the manual...

Very unusual in Erie PA.  We've been in the 30's to 40's for the most part all winter thus far, lake Erie isn't frozen and the extended looks like more of the same.  Snowfall has been well down too, the jet stream has been our friend, keeping the bitter cold to the north.

Of course, being Erie, all hell could break loose to include a 3 foot snowfall with a few degrees directional change of wind and open water to the north, but hey, we're pushing mid February so at this point who cares?  We've already got it beat 8)

WTB '64 narrow case top loader bell housing or a dual pattern bell produced later that permits a narrow case attachment behind an FE in a car.  This is not for the sake of originality, only to get something close to the right part without going aftermarket.

Hey Marc, hate to see that, glad you're OK.  From the look of the hood sitting pretty on the passenger side I'd guess a bit of push-off by the frame but nothing major beyond the obvious cosmetic destruction. People are swell.

No photos, jut gibberish, the word "list" with "photo" at the end.  Are you trying to post from a hosting site and it didn't work or just an error?

Congrats Doug, ya gotta wonder, can 10's be far behind?  You're half way there 8)

Thanks all, the input helped a lot.  Went up a few posts and modified this afternoon, the pic is still there so all's well.  I'll stick another one on here just to see if I've got right-

Enjoy Heo.  I do agree on the road salt >:(  Lots of experience here in PA with disintegrating cars.  Once you get the salt between the panel joints and into the welds it's almost impossible to stop the rust moths from destroying your ride.  Willing to bet that you don't have too many '64s in junk yards near you for parts either.- A safe and smooth trip to you and yours.

Using Google Photo as a test bed.  You click on the picture to enlarge and isolate, then right click and select save image location.  Then, I click on image above to paste the photo here.  Works for a while then gone.  There is also a copy image function I can select on the Google site but when I try that I do not have the paste option when I try to bring it here.  Lots going on today so not much time to fool with anything, appreciate the input.  Link starts with "lh3.googleusercontent", don't see another address getting in the way.
