Always liked the '63, '64 Marauders but lately I've found the '65s are starting to look real nice. There is [ or was] a '65 Merc, two door post, small block with three on the tree for sale here in SW Ontario.  I was tempted but the wife tells me five vehicles is my limit.     Rick

Warning - Buyer Beware / Re: Question for the members regarding this board
« on: February 10, 2014, 09:51:59 AM »

If you're going to go with a post count, I better get in my 1.8 cents worth [Canadian currency]while I can. The FE community isn't huge and guys like Barry, Dennis, Blair, Brent etc. have already earned good reputations. Thats why so many people here step up
to defend them.
As for the guy's manifold , it came but it was $$$$$$$$. No wonder with 'a guy named Art on the box', UPS charges by weight.
Sorry just couldn't resist.     Rick

FE Technical Forum / Re: Oil pan leak

For gas and oil leaks I use stuff called Sealall. Comes in a tube that looks like a tube of model car glue. It works great for gas, oil, water, pretty much any kind of leak, as long as its not a big hole. I've used it on gas lines, gas tanks, oil lines etc. You can paint over it when your done. They sell it here in Canada so I would think its available in the US and elsewhere.

FE Technical Forum / Re: Making a 410 and other questions

Hey, I'm another guy that throws nickels around like manhole covers [I'm cheap]. I just finished doing what you're doing. Thirty over 390", 410 crank. I got mine balanced, didn't cost that much. Reasons were the difference in price and availability of the flywheel and balancer between the 390" and the 410"/428", knowing a balanced engine is a happier engine and the fact that any kind of vibration in a car I'm driving gets old real quick.

I've been lurking here since you opened this shop Jay and skulking around the FE Forum for the last 12 years so maybe it's time to introduce myself. My names Rick and I'm an FEholic. Live in London Ontario, retired, and spend way too much time with my cars. I have a 'green 63 500 Fastback, a white '64 500 XL Fastback and a second blue '64 XL that's giving it's life to make the white one whole.
Great site, solid bunch of guys on here and I've picked up a lot of good FE information.
As for what I'm doing this weekend, You don't wanna know. It involves taking the body off one XL and putting it on the frame of the other XL. It features a rental unit, couple of chainfalls, questionable rafters, structural integrity and things that would give an engineer nightmares. So I'll spare you the details. lol
Anyway I hope everyone has a good Easter, Rick
