I don't know but, usually when a guild seizes, it stays seized, because it galls.

I also think that the lifter has bottomed out, to brake the ball off the PR. I'd take a close look at the coil bind and retainer clearance.

It would also be a good idea, to use a endoscope in that cyl, to see if the valve hit the piston.

Agreed........

Pic says rockers are all adjusted.. Whats up with #7 cyl. Jam nut is almost flush and all the others are 3 or 4 threads down..
I agree with Joe....could be grabbing valves..     Cory

Rory... the 68 is not running a Blaster 2F just a regular blaster mounted vertical. The 66 CJ Mustang I did has a Painless harness in it with a blaster 2F and it came with a resister..I have 17,000 miles on the the 68 with a full 12V running the Duraspark...I have not had a failure yet

I have the 16-1 box in my 67 mustang Trans Am replica. I have it manual tho. The box is worn out and I didn't want a rebuilt box. Its just a crap shoot as are flaming river box. I found a company in the states that makes brand new ones and no core charge. It's made by Lares and available from Summit. They are good as well. It fit perfect and has zero free play( the tag is my work).. I have EPAS steering in the car as well..

The common part/tag # for the 16-1 box is SMB-K. SMB-F is the Q/R box but the only thing different is the tag.

Hey Rory...generally use a MSD blaster 2F. It has the correct terminals for the horseshoe clip..If the cars have monte carlo bars I use a standard top Blaster and run the harness inside the monte carlo bar.....Cory

You have be careful with the Blaster coils..MSD wants some of them to be vertical mounted only..

I do have the wiring schematic I got back in the 80's with the Ford SVO duraspark wiring harness. I will dig it out tomorrow and scan it. They do not say anything about a resister. I have had the same blue strain box in my 68 since the mid 80's..Not saying I am right but I have never had a failure in 40 years and I have a huge pile of Duraspark stuff for a reason. I always fire mine of the I terminal on the solenoid.... Cory

I have done countless Duraspark conversions since Ford SVO made the harness in the 80's. I have always run them full 12V and never had a failure. The last one i did on the 66 Mustang Fastback with the 428CJ I got a painless wiring harness. It came with a resistor so i wired it up. Car started fine..This is a ongoing subject with no real answer. I always use blue strain Motorcraft boxes..I have half a dozen FE Duraspark dist..I will continue full 12V till I see a failure..JMO....Cory

I pulled the towers out and cut them all up. Goal was to create engine room.I used my 67 as a template and added a inch. I even managed to keep the big dent in the right side shock tower..My goal was to make it look like Ford has done it...Yes there was a Heidts front end hidden under all it...I also added two torque boxes, frame connectors and a Shelby roll bar..I spent years of spare time on the car. It was for my brother and he refuses to give me any credit for it.That also means I made $2 a hour on the car...Currently working on buying it from him.....Cory....I will add ..some one else started this project and welded the front cross member in 1 1/4 inched to far forward...Guess who had to fix that mess

I also did a 66 Fastback with a 428 CJ 4spd..A couple of us here did it..One really nice one has the towers removed..My customer wanted the towers left in...He got what he asked for.....Cory

« on: February 26, 2024, 12:01:28 AM »
I agree with Rory...We are still farther ahead that we were 30-40 years ago..When I built my 427 in the late 80's cam selection (solid) was slim. Intake choices were even slimmer.  So i found a C7-F intake .. Header choices were not good so I redrilled the heads and put CJ exhaust manifolds on. There was no ARP we used SPS rod bolts..When I bought my aluminum heads only Edelbrock had them..I bought empty 427 heads and had them built the way I wanted. They have been surpassed but i don't care..I built my engine for torque not HP...Its a street car...It sucks that the venders come and go..My advice is..grab it while you can...Cory

maybe woody the op can chime in and be more specific for what he wants?are you looking for an origianl 67 s code fastback to restore or hot rod?

That's what it sounds like...Dynacorn body's are stronger as they have the convert floors and rockers..They are easy to spot..I am in B.C Canada and a absolute junk 67/68 Fastback with no papers and a good roof is worth a easy 7-10K....

I have owned mine since 1977..I could not afford to by my car now...Cory
Picture taken almost two years ago..You can tell I am cleaning out the garage..Divorce I didn't want...Kept all my toy's tho..
