FE Technical Forum / Re: BBM 427 block build info?
« on: June 13, 2024, 09:31:54 PM »
Appreciate the info given, any and all, getting ready to order pistons, rings and such, and wanted to ask people who had personal experience with these blocks.
A nice OEM block just doesn't have the thicker deck that I have had problems with on factory stuff, and found this BBM new block for a decent price and decided to go with that.
Bushing all lifter bores is a given in my opinion, and I'll check the steam holes for any problems .

Much appreciated

Mike
Doing a motor for customer and that’s what he wants.  6005 castings are for 390-428 combo and the 6008 is for L/R-M/R 427, they have a machined CC just like a C5AE-6090-F OEM head and I believe a different valve spacing to fit 2.190/1.73 valves?

Mike are you the person running the B/SA Fairlane out of San Jose?

If so, I would like to talk to you.

Two-1-zero-373-4zero zero 4 is my number.

Thanks
RJ

I build my own motors, but I do agree with you on the “time” issue.

Thanks

Sorry Fekbmax, both would work but I would rather find a 4.233-4.250 block,  than spend $6000.00(w/shipping) on a block that I would have to bore and hone to 4.250 or so and then be limited by the 4.280 max bore.
The 4.300 block would only allow for .013 or so of rehone/mishaps, to maintain the .080 overbore allowance by NHRA.  4.233 std bore + .080= 4.313  Both would work of course, but I would rather find a block that did not require added expense/labor.
I hope you understand.

Aluminum is not a legal piece, but appreciate your help.
Have already talked to Chris and he has a couple of blocks, one small bore (4.100 and can go to 4.280) and a big bore (4.300 that is too large),
NHRA only allows .080 over Std. So doesn’t leave much room.

No heads at this time.  Doug at BBM told me March 2024? For blocks.

Appreciate your help

I know its a long shot, but I need a PI intake, prefer one with the least amount of modification and a solid piece.  Will be happy to pay accordingly depending on condition.

Thanks in advance
