Private Classifieds / Re: WANTED - Aftermarket FE block

Pond and Blair have blocks I believe.

Yes Blair’s idea would be great and you wouldn’t see the mods and it could still pass for stock it just sounded like the original poster wasn’t looking to spend that much. Now being that he does want a reliable engine with newer parts inside a stroker  kit would be a great idea.

If the police interceptor keeps it more original and you can use more of your stock equipment then it sounds like you will be happier that way. You have to do it the way you want it because in the long run the more you change it the farther away from stock looking it will be. That F-427 intake has that PCV tube though.

I don’t really think so Mike. IIRC the ports aren’t much bigger although the plenum is bigger. In the original post he does say he would like to install a cam. Even if he does a stock rebuild with better pistons like Brent says and a very reasonable compression of let’s say 10 to 1 with a more modern camshaft that manifold would be perfect. Stick a 600 or 735 carb on there and even with stock exhaust gotta be 375 HP and torque would be up to. I don’t think he’s looking for a lot just a good reliable motor with a little more bite.

I bet that intake is 15 horse with that change alone

I think the F-427 edelbrock intake has the same PCV system as the original intake. And it’s a good manifold.

Not just 2.8 but how much horsepower can you pick up with a widage tray or scraper. Do you think the more horsepower you make the more important widage is?

Thanks Blair sorry if I put you in a weird situation. Realized after I posted but to late then. Like arguing with the wife and your words slip out and you want to take them back. “BUT”
So there is really 9 ways to go. There’s too much info to remember without seeing it laid out I don’t care who you are. Ok much better. So what happens to the B and F head to make if for the larger bores on the bottom of list. And I would assume they come in different CCs.
Another question do some of these make more torque than the others do they all have the same intake runners CC wise I guess besides the porting.

So Blair at The reunion there were 4 different sets of heads, we did speak about one set of heads which I think was the best of the 4. But if you could tell us the difference between the sets so we can all know the difference for anyone that was wondering. I’m sure they all are good but some insight would be great.

I picked up on that Rory. But realized he was talking about preload. That’s why I said 1/2 turn. I think he was going to far and effecting the idle. When he gets back maybe he with explain better
