Thanks Blair sorry if I put you in a weird situation. Realized after I posted but to late then. Like arguing with the wife and your words slip out and you want to take them back. “BUT”
So there is really 9 ways to go. There’s too much info to remember without seeing it laid out I don’t care who you are. Ok much better. So what happens to the B and F head to make if for the larger bores on the bottom of list. And I would assume they come in different CCs.
Another question do some of these make more torque than the others do they all have the same intake runners CC wise I guess besides the porting.

So Blair at The reunion there were 4 different sets of heads, we did speak about one set of heads which I think was the best of the 4. But if you could tell us the difference between the sets so we can all know the difference for anyone that was wondering. I’m sure they all are good but some insight would be great.

FE Technical Forum / Re: Impact Of Valve Lash On Idle Quality

I picked up on that Rory. But realized he was talking about preload. That’s why I said 1/2 turn. I think he was going to far and effecting the idle. When he gets back maybe he with explain better

I’m assuming this a hydraulic flat tappet. I’ve always found a half turn to be about right after zero lash. 3/4 always seemed like it was too much, I thought that’s when they sounded different. Pushing the lifter down that much seemed like it was always like a laboring sound in the motor. Idle never sounded right to me. I always loosened till slight tap then tighten till it just went away and 1/2 turn. And always do it on a warmed up motor.

By looks at least I could be wrong but is that piston heavy? Also looks like thick ring set.
Sorry missed the box picture. That is a heavy piston. What is the benefit of the weird design.

No sweat I’m not that thin skinned. But really if you get a 3.98 from scat they are 2.20 rod journal right.? There’s a guy around the neighborhood has like a notchback with a 347 I don’t know what kind of block he has but he runs 12 psi with a procharger she scoots along pretty good. That’s why I was saying maybe Blair will keep us informed on his 400 cube motor

I understand but I wasn’t talking about a stock crank. I thought when scat makes them you can get them as a steel crank and they were the same 2.20 journals as the 4.250 cranks. That being said I understand what you are saying.

When you got off the subject with the 400 inch boost motor a lot of guys around here are running blow through carbs with procharger. My buddy a few houses down (Chevy 540) makes 638 naturally aspirated with 600 lbs torque with procharger he makes 1070 Hp and 1247 lbs of torque. Makes me want one maybe next setup.

What would be the benefit of a 4.0 crank than just using a 428 3.98 arm. Besides cubic inches.

I think probably almost 200 horse more than he had. She’s gonna scoot.

Nice Brent I guess Jays heads are working well. Only 10 to 1 making good power. Love the flat tap pet to me nothing sounds better not even a solid roller. Was that cam nitride.

Was looking at those cylinder heads Blair with a 280 cross volume do you need to be speeding or filling those runners.

Dumb. How about a round about on the camshaft, less than 750 lift?

If the fuel systems up to it I believe you just have to fatten up the jets
